Competition What happened to the DHRA???

Alrighty guys, I KNOW there are members around here that know something about them.

I stumbled into one, and now I need more information. Good bad and ugly give it to me.

I'll say this, so far, it is on my truck and seems to run out good. It's got a wastegated 14cm housing, that appears to be off an HX35 or 40. I have seen 50psi with it.

I can't read effency maps, so the one that I found seems kind of useless.

How much Boost can I safely see?

How much power can I expect to see/gain out of it?

I know there are better choices out there, but it's what I have at the moment.

Mods to the truck:

H2E

180 pump:

100 plate

4kGSK

191 delivery valves

370 injectors

AFC arm ground

AFC washer mod done

Any HP guesses?

Prolly 450 to 500 HP. Those old school H2E were some tough chargers. You can get some parts for 'em too for cheap and make a pretty cool low buck hybrid.

I've talked to Joe, he didn't know much about the H2E's.

I've heard that they were tough chargers, then I've heard guys blowing them up left and right...

I finally talked to someone yesterday that said Garmons would know something about them. I called down there but Jeff was busy at the time.

The Charger seems to already be a hybrid of sorts, it's got an HX style 14cm exhaust housing.

If it's truely an H2E that has had the HX40 housing put on, it's a pretty stout turbo. DD used to sell those as the MB200's, H2E compressor with a cut-down turbine wheel fit into a HX40 housing. Also built them as a full size turbine wheel into a cut-up HX40 housing.

They work good in the 550-750hp range, but were a bit laggy if you didn't have a good cam. They will take abuse and make good power. The one on the blue P-pumped 24v truck made 787rwhp on nitrous when it let go. Not much power these days, but this was back in 2001. At the time, it was the highest HP truck around.

Keith gave you good info. Without nitrous, it would be difficult to get over 575 hp with that turbo, with stock 17 or 19 cm2 exhaust housings. Don't know about your setup specifically. With your other mods, I'd expect more like 450 hp using 370 injectors and the 180 pump.

Thanks again for the info guys... My dyno run didn't go as well as I had planned. I didn't get a chance to even check fuel pressure at RPM before it went on. So my torque spikes to 924 then falls off pretty quickly. My HP was 414 and stayed for the duration.

I think both are attributed to low fuel pressure and 16* timing, I did only see 46psi on the dyno. On the street I see 50psi with ease. I wish I had the time before to bump the timing to 22ish degrees, put an extra washer in the rack plug (can't find a mack one locally) and make sure my fuel pressure is/was up. I really think those were my main issues to keep me from the 450-475hp mark... . oh well... there's always next time, right?!

FYI, The last Diesel Dynamics MB-200 turbo (H2E / 16cm2 HX-40 housing, cut down exhaust wheel) is on Ebay for sale right now. Item:150336058620

In case anyone is looking for one of these.
