My WVO filter setup has been foaming pretty badly in the cooler weather.

Is there any way to stop it so I can continue my filtering?

What causes the foam? Is it just a thing it does when it gets cold out, or could there be some water sneaking in there? I cover the drum real carefully, and test the oil for moisture before I start the filtering process.

I have a 2000 watt element on the bottom of the drum, but I hate to run it for any length of time. Besides it takes forever to warm the drum up if it's over 1/2 full.

Is heat the only answer or am I overlooking something?

Hello Patriot

The foam is from the pumping of the cold oil this happens in colder weather diesel fuel is the same all the time but worse in the winter.

Heat will take care of this problem but its ok filter the oil let if foam settle the oil then wipe out the crud hanging on the walls of the tank if you can.

Anti foaming additives might help I never really give it a thought.

Hope this helps
