Armed with only a chainsaw, our hero, the caped crusader, tries to bring the minions of darkness, to light……

'99 Sport Headlights and BriteBox are installed.

I finally found a weekend that was free of time and rain. Thanks goes out to Rnpeder (Mark Rogers) for doing the leg work to get these to me. (check the classifieds) So with trusty TDR issue 25 (page 51) and a chainsaw (sawzall) I commenced to cutting. I took off the front bumper to make this a little easier. Eyeballed the cut line, watch out for that grounding lug on the driver side, and made a lot of noise. Cuts went pretty well. Primered, the new shiny metal parts I exposed. Plugged the BriteBox connectors to the bulbs and locked the headlights down. Mounted the BriteBox, hooked to power and off to align the headlights. Putting the bumper back on gave me a little trouble, but all is well with the "smile" again.

I can see. These are great. I would not hesitate to do this again. I might have to if my fishing buddy likes them. Man, I love the TDR. The bestest place to get info for our trucks. Thanks to the pioneers of this install, I don't have issue 25 in front of me or I would name names .

Let there be light!

Hey Jeff,

I did the very same thing to my '98. 5 Sport. I had to do the job in secrecy though... if Evan (a. k. a. Mr. Sawzall) would have caught wind of my project I would never have been able to get near my Ram!:-laf :-laf

Anyway, did you use the "special" Brite-Box (the one that facilitates a plug-in installation for the Sport headlight upgrade)? I used this (purchased through Geno's Garage... even though they don't advertise this Brite-Box model in their product brochure) and it works very well!

Additionally, I replaced the new halogen bulbs with PIAA Platinum Series Super White 9007s and 9004s.

As good as these are, you should see Evan Beck's H. I. D. Sport headlights!!!!

:--) :--)

Yes, John I used the "special" BriteBox. I bet the H. I. D. Sport Headlights look great. Are the PIAA super whites that much brighter??

Jeff

I thought you just appeared when ever needed Batman. :D :D

You would be very proud of the light install I just did no the DOR front bumper. After all I had to try to one up your winch wiring George. Oo.

I'll get some picts up from it.

Ted

No offense, Batman

I thought you might reply. I have seen your login. I was so impressed with the BriteBox I just had to borrow from the Adam West / Burt Ward days. I hope that you don't mind. :D

Jeff

Excellent Ted, I always enjoy looking at pics.

I must have gone to Texas and back while I was sleeping:D

Take care.

George

Jeff... ... ... no offense at all. I just like poking fun when someone uses the " Holy whatever Batman" line.

Glad you like the lights.

Do you still have use of your regular low beams???

George

Batman, Yes I do. I used the "special" bat BriteBox that was mentioned in issue 25 (page 51). Sorry, I don't remember the names, the faces were changed, and I left the TDR mag at home. :p

Ted

Real nice pics, but in your second pic... ... ... who is "Bateman"???:--) :{

Thanks for the link. Did you put more lights under the bumper??

Doh... ... ... ... ..... :-laf , looks like me being a moron is howing up again. No prob with the type, just thought i'd poke some fun... ... ... and look what happens, I don't pay attention to what I type.

Nice setup anyway!

Take care.

Jeff, I personally feel the PIAA Super White bulbs made a big difference however, there are many on this BB that have tried them and thought the product was too $teep for the additional amount of light they produced. In all fairness, they are a little brighter, but a whole lot whiter! Personally, I have been using them ever since they were released for sale by PIAA... I still have another pair of 9004s in my original headlight housings.

Regarding Evan's H. I. D. bulbs...

He gets away with them because he has a 4x2 and aims them downward. You would never get away with it for very long in a restictive municipality. They are quite a bit brighter than any of the foreign cars you see running around with factory H. I. D. headlights. :eek:eek:
