Ordered Turbo Diesel lawn mower

Vehicle plating and regulations for 1-ton

OK, I'm still learning 'bout diesel, some basic questions:

1) is home heating oil truly the same as #2 diesel? same chemical composition?

2) at (5/24/04) $1. 29 for HHO and $1. 59 for diesel locally, can HHO be burned in the Cummins?

3) read somewhere "don't get caught with red fuel". What's the deal? Is this a tax issue?

Thanks to all.

Red fuel is off-road diesel used in ag equipment and off-road construction equipment. On-road (normal) diesel is green.

The main reason their died is Off-road isn't taxed. Thats why it's some much cheaper. Fines can get pretty heavy if you get caught running the off-road diesel in your pickup.

Growing up in Boring, Oregon our home heat was oil. The tractor and our brand new 88' or 89' Ford Van was diesel. Had a gas Oldsmobile Cutless (if I remember correctly) that dad later converted to diesel. He sank a 500 gallon tank next to the house to run the oil furnace and another tank in the shed. We used both tanks, which ever was convenient, for filling the tractor and vehicles.

At that time I had no idea there was on and off road diesel. But I am sure Dad knew, and obviously didn't care.
