Towing heavy with 6.7L & DPF delete

Full Road Closure, I-405, Renton, WA, July 10 and 11

Hey guys

I am looking to build a couple of trailers this summer and am looking for some DOT info. I want/need to build a tow dolly and would like to build a little light mower/toy hauler.

Do I need to get inspected in order to be legal, and if so, how do I go about getting that? Also, does anyone have a link to a website or something where I can get legal measurements, etc?

thanks for the help!

At one time Northern tool sold plans to build trailers and tow dollies...

Harvey is correct, it is state dependent...

Some states don't require trailer titles, plates, or that they even be registered as long as the tow vehicle is legal.

Other states require you jump through hoops to title/register/plate a home-built trailer... Pennsylvania requires a multiple page form detailing materials, how the materials were obtained, construction details and techniques, etc... then you need to have it weighed AND inspected (all while not touching a public road!!), then your in a holding pattern to get a title. Most guys simply buy a scrap camper and use the title/registration from it on their home-built trailer to eliminate dealing with PennDOT (not saying its legit, but its done).

Best bet would be a local DMV or title place, or even a local inspection garage.
