Honda 2000i owners

My 5W has a 2” receiver bolted to the frame at the rear of the unit, I have been thinking about fabricating a mount to hold my Honda 2000i at the rear of my 5W using the 2” receiver.



A couple of questions-



1, (this one specifically for Honda 2000i owners) How did you secure the Gen to the shelf, bolt it to the mount, how? Use Nylon straps to hold it down, not very theft resistant? One of the contractor Gens on a pipe frame would not present a problem!



2, Did you fabricate a water proof wood or metal cover or use the Honda fabric cover?

I would imagine you could fabricate a metal strap that would hinge over the top and through the handle. Padlock. I have storage space in my trailer for it; it's light enough to put in and out so no weather proofing necessary. I have seen a metal piece that goes over the handle so the plastic can't be cut. Maybe a good idea there, too.

I have both of the Honda 2000 gen sets so that I can run them together... I pulled the bolt out of the rubber pad on the base and used a 3/8 longer bolt and bolted the gen sets to an aluminum plate... I used some loc-tite and lock washers as I installed the bolts... BEWARE... if your not extremely careful... the metal clip in the frame of the gen set will be dis-lodged and the bolt will not go back into the gen set. . I finally had to pull the cover one of them to re-install the clip, to bolt it in place... . they could go on a plate at the hitch... mine are on a platform on the rear of my RV... .

The gen sets are water proof... so I only cover them when they are not in use... . my cover. covers both generators and the cable I store to connect them to the RV... its made from a piece of fabric like what the awning is made from... its a got a strap on it... and clips to some snaps...
