Alaska Bound?

Trailer brakes surging

Honda eu3000, Bought it, Love it, Really quiet, runs the air conditioner, I haven't tried it with anything else at the same time, but I was injured and it is very heavy. I was wondering how good an idea it would be if I attach it to a front receiver set up, as I have a 12' slide on camper. (love the camper too :) I really don't want to trade it in if I don't have too.

PS. I never would have thought of this truck if I hadn't followed the different web sights and found a bunch of great people and their great info right here! :p . Also, not too good with this computer thing, so please bear with me. Thanks ;)

Can you take a photo of where you want to mount this generator? Not exactly sure if it would work on your front receiver, vibration issues?

Thanks, Tony G

I have a rack, for the back receiver that is rated for 500lbs (2'x4' aprox, can fold up when not in use) . I was thinking of installing a front receiver hitch installing the rack and making a covering for it to keep it safe from the weather.

My thinking is that since it only weighs 150lb, that would be considerably less than a snow plow. A worry might be going around corners and up tight streets or any legalities as there is gasoline in the generators tank (although there is fuel in the engine). I had put it on the back receiver (as I have a large camper the receiver extension is 4' long)it acts as a fulcrum so far from the rear wheels and will drag in and out of some driveways.

I was wondering if anyone uses a front receiver in this or a similar fashion to haul equiptment and what their experiences were.

I have a 5KW Honda that I carried on a front rack similar to yours. It weighs considerably more than a 3000. My only concern was that I would slide up too close to the vehicle, post, wall... et al... in front of me. That could be remedied with a couple of wands on the corners of the rack. Have you thought of installing a remote starter setup on your 3000?

I have seen it done on some rigs while on our annual jounery to AZ. As it will be vibrated alot I would make sure that the receiver is really mounted good!
