Honda Generator Capacity

What does 5% or 6% or x% downgrade for next 6 miles mean?

Renting Enclosed trailers?

I am toying with the idea of purchasing a generator(s) for the fifth wheel. Running the AC was not an original consideration but after sitting in 115* heat... ... ... ... .

Anyway, it seems that 2 of the EU200is generators cost about the same (maybe a little more) as 1 EU3000 would cost. Also- based on their rated capacities, it would seem that 2 2000's are also capable of putting out about 300 more watts. Is this actually the case? Or by bridging them is there some loss? It also appears that 2 2000's weigh considerably less than 1 3000.

I got two

I have two of the 2000's. I have just returned from a trip to WY.

Temps were near 100 all day. Cooled of nice at nite. The two hondas ran the A/C fine. The A/C on my unit is a Coleman MachII.

I think that is the model anyway it is the 15,000Btu unit.

We were at an elevation of 5500. I carried the two HOnda's on the back of the trailer(5th) on a cargo carrier in the receiver hith.

We ran them on the rack and didn't think they were objectionable

as far as vibration or noise. Didn't run them at nite so maybe that would made a difference.

I have one of those plug in Voltmeters from Camping World. Not the digital and wit h the A/c and the honda's running it never got below 120v. They would not run the microwave and the A/C together. Darn microwave used more juice than the A/C.

We like 'em. Take one if Don't need the A/C. At around 50#'s each

easier for me to handle than one big one.

More info

Forgot to mention. . go IRV2.com and search for Honda Generators.

The Poster is called Pulltoy.

On the two 2000's the "gotcha" is the darn parallel cord. Around

$200. Then you have to make up a plug to fit the RV around another $25.

Pulltoy did it all for around $75 I think. It was really slick. Wish I hac

waited about a month until he posted . I bought the Honda cord.

The EU3000 does have an electric starter, which the EU2000 does not. If you don't have to move it, I think the EU3000 would be nicer, but I suppose I'd go Onan if I was going to get a bigger one.

I was told by a reputable Honda source that the eu 2000 is for kind of light duty use, not for long usage like all day with the AC on. Not that it wouldn't do it but the 2 eu 2000's will not last as long as a 3000 running the same load. The draw back to the 3000 is that it is pretty heavy for one person. Just thought I would point out what I was told I don't know this for sure. A guy here on the TDR made his 3000 fully remote from inside his trailer choke and all.

I have a EU3000 and love it. I have run into one problem though,

it will not kick over the AC (15K BTU) when above 4500 ft, below works fine. Does anybody know of a chart that shows the expected output versa elevation. As one goes up in elevation the HP rating of the gas motor goes down and thusly can't turn over the alternator.

However if I was to do it all over again, I would look at using the twin EU2000 approach as this is about 30% lighter. The longtivity might be an issue. As far as the electric starter, the EU3000 is easy to start with the pull cord. I had to do this when the battery died.

Hope this helps
