Hood/Fender Air Deflectors

Just looking at the cover of TDR Issue #26 and one truck stands out, at least what I'm looking for, the black truck 3'rd from the right (not sure if this is Sam M's truck). Is it my imagination or just a reflection - are the hood/fender air deflectors stainless? Sure would appreciate any feedback - all I find locally are the smoke colored ones. Thanks

Had them on my 94,after 5 years the center piece that goes between the hood and the grill had broken all 6 of the top mounting studs and had to buy a new grill on Tues. Maybe 5 years wasn't to bad but hated to buy that new grill at $183. 00 and its just as cheep as the first, no deflector this time though,and im not sure it made any difference in bugs or whatever on the windshield,it did however seem to kill a little fuel mileage when I had it on. Oh by the way my mirrors don't vibrate anymore. Hows that for a response, did'nt mean to be so negative,hope this won't sway your plans to much ,I just like to vent

You are not mistaken, the hood deflector is stainless. Look in the latest issue of the TDR. The Geno's catalog in there has a section of stainless accessories that Sam has on his truck. You will find the deflector there. Good luck,

Stan, Your right that was Sam's truck with the stainless deflectors, according to Sam they don't really work that well,Sam put them on because their shiny.

Genos sells the Ventshade smoke deflector. Just what Im looking for because it doesnt cover the Ram emblem on the grille. Has any one else installed this particular bugshield?Does it effect the mirrors or wipers?Thanks ahead for the help.

The Ventshade is made of "rugged impact-modified acrylic". GTS Omni-gard makes one of carbon fiber. See website at ustruckaccessories.com. (Geno's is cheaper) No pictures of the items, if anyone can point me to the website with pictures of the GTS Omni-gard, would be a #ad

I have the Ventshade deflector on my '78 Dodge and know they work great. When I look at the picture of the Stainless ones in Cabella's, I can't help thinking how great they would match my new stainless running boards. I will admit that right now the decision is tough, looks or functionality/problems - guess a few more days are needed before a decision is made. Have a car and truck show here in Raleigh this weekend, maybe I'll get some more ideas. Thanks

I have the stainless steel by Better Built. It looks way cool but does'nt work worth a crap. Windshield get's covered with critters on a trip. Had the Mopar on my '95 and it worked great... hardly any bugs at all. . of course, it did'nt look very good. Form before function? Your call.
