Has anyone installed a fresh air hood scoop. Seems like it would help get cool air to the Moparguy huge filter.

Found a scoop kit called Keystone Good Hood Scoop. $ 207. 00

Any ideas?

It looks good. Much cheaper than a ram-air full hood. It already has the correct taper to fit the hood. No trimming.

Should be able to rig a couple of aluminum cloths dryer hose's, and point them @ the filter, better yet make an air box air plumb them into it.

filter?

i'm kind of slow with all this stuff so what is a "moparguy huge filter" i've seen it mentioned several times. please help. thanks E. T.

I was thinkin' along these same lines. Like you said, might funnel a little cooler air in there. Considering the impressive egt results with just the filter added on, might be worth a try. Now, only question left is, who's got the codds to cut a hole in their hood.....

How do you keep the water out, some kind of drip loop or something, I am STILL worried about water with this kind of filter.

Hey guys I saw one of those hood scoops, you have in the picture up there at a truck accessories shop, and it is totally non-functional. It is a solid and I mean solid chunk of fiberglass very heavy I was not at all impressed, You may want to keep looking for another scoop. That one just bolts to the hood for looks.

Thanks for the info jqram35. :)

I'm not going to take the time, effort, and $ for paint & supplies to put a damn non fuctional scoop on.

Very good info. :)

Watch out Steve!

That one doesn't work with our diesels. It is functional but only for a gasser. I looked at one up close, nice looking, fit OK to -OK. It has a rain provision but the out let in on the pass side facing toward center. On the gassers it mates to an included duct attached to the air cleaner on the engine. If you wanted to do some cuttin' and glassin' you could probably make something work.

I knew it wasn't functional for our trucks as it comes, but we are a resourceful bunch :) ! $220 for a scoop that couldn't be functional versus $440 for a hood that has scoop that we just have to come up with plumbing to make it work was my thought.

fresh air intake

Surely there is a way to funnel fresh air to the general area of the Big ASs filter thru the grille area without having to deface the hood(and looks) of our trucks. I use a filter from Fleetguard just like the NAPa 2790. Same dimensions. Cost me 35. 00 with similar results. Maybe one of you resourseful guys will come up with something simple to get us more fresh air.

Steve,

If the duct is symetrical, you might be able to cut it off, spin it 180 and reattach it. I agree $440 is much closer to "within reach" than Doug's hood.

I'm pretty sure dougs hood would fit better than this one. The one I saw took a body shop about 2 hours of extra time (and a bit of trimming) to get to fit.
