What gear should a person pull in with a 400hp (give or take) 5 speed equipped with a DD??

Depends, loose track, tight track, tire size, gear ratio. If he is running a 33" with 4:10's go 4th low, or 2nd high. Third low is'nt going to do anything unless he has 3. 54's and 35" tall tires.

He has 4. 10's and stock hx35/12. Remember this is for a 5 speed Nv4500...

Also might have 33's by the time the pull hits.

smoken_monster tried it in 4 lo with his set up this past weekend and just bogged down at about 150' he is running right around 450rwhp with 4. 10 gears and 34" tires go in 3rd low

I'd imagine its quite a bit harder on the transfer case. .

I've always pulled 3rd Low with good results. I tried 2nd Hi at the last pull I competed in and didn't do very well at all. Luckily I was 1st on the track, dropped the pull came back tried 3rd Low and put 20Ft. on my previous pull.

I was turning 3300 (I think?) last time I pulled and I have 3. 55 gears and 33" tires.

not tryin' to hyjack this thread, but what would be best to run with my truck 3rd low, 2nd high, or maybe overdrive on low range 4:10's auto 285's decent power that lights quick oh yeah 4000rpm . Just looking for suggestions.
