How Tall Is Doc Tinker?

What not to do during the winter months

Well flurries for the most part, but Forecasters say we'll have 6-8" on the ground by morning. Could be more!

I know,I know YAWWWWWN for some of you that are sick of it already, but we take what little snow we can get around here. At least I get to play in the snow in my Ram at least one more time before it's sold or repo'd.

Last year we got only about 5-6" in one snowfall. We went sledding with a bunch of our friends and I decided to be funny. I poured some Mountain Dew behind me in the snow while everyone was busy talking. A couple of minutes later I said, "Ooh look, yellow snow!" Then I grabbed a handful of it and shoved it in my mouth and said, "Mmmm!" HaHa! You should've seen the dry heaved looks on all my friends faces! My wife almost lost her lunch. :D

Isn't it pathetic that the Southeast has gotten more snow this winter than most of New England.

All we have had is less than an inch here in CT. :(

The snow gods must be p***ed at us.

We got just about 9 inches here so far ... still coming down ... but slowing up alot. I've been out playing since first light ... having a blast!!!!

Yellow Snow

Rogue Ales, world class, award winning micro-brewer located in Newport, Or. named their seasonal offering... .

Yellow Snow ;)

We had 7 inches this morning and it's been snowing off and on all day, but I don't know how much we have at the moment, maybe 11-12".

My day has been great even though I had to go to work. I left for work at 6:30am and as usual I always blast the Grovers a little bit for my daughter while she waves bye to me every morning. This morning was a little different. I tooted the Grovers and the solenoid stuck wide open, so I blasted the neighborhood with about 8-10 seconds of "Heaven". I guess there was some moisture in the solenoid and the cold air froze it open. I flipped the switch I installed to cut the compressor off to keep from burning it up.

Had fun while working also. I got recruited to play taxi for some members of management. The uptight, corncob up the butt stiffs loosened up a little and the "Kid" came out in all 3 of them when they asked me to do a few donuts in the company parking lot. I quickly obliged! Heck I was on the clock and if I refused, that would be insubordination, right?:D A few browny points doesn't hurt when work performance evaluation raises are just next week.

Well it's still snowing so now it's time to galavant around the secondary roads before it gets to late. Later Dudes!!

WoooHooo!!

Just heard on the news that we're gonna get hammered by another winter storm on Sunday!!

Ohhh The Humanity!!:D

That's because she moved to NY and got herself elected to the Senate.

Down here in SW VA, we got a light dusting of maybe a half inch. I actually had to break out my old snow brush to clean the truck off this morning before heading down to the courthouse to file the will. We might get more snow Sunday/Monday.

Of course, there are the usual fools who think nothing of running normal highway speeds on icy snow with marginal tires. I saw a few vehicles whose drivers tried to take a shortcut off the highway; they didn't get too far!

The little snow here sure beats the near total lack of snow in No. IL the last 6 years. Hardly enough to get the sleds out and running more than once or twice a year.

Well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Just thought I would let you know that even my two-wheel-impaired Ram made the 25 mile trip to work yesterday morning. Interstate 295 only had one set of tracks to follow and by being very ginger-footed and taking my time, we made it with no problems. :p However, if I could have found a clear place to turn around after leaving the house, I think I would have returned home and taken the CJ5 to work instead! :D Since I didn't do that,,,,,,,,,,,,I was able to raz everybody that has a 4x4 and didn't show up for work. (most could have made it in, but it was a good excuse to stay at home) Bottom line: 2 wheel drive + empty Diesel Ram + stock Michelins = NO Fun  But, I wanted the 2wd for towing the 5er and next time, I'll use the one brain cell I got left to drive that rough-riding-top-flappin-worthless-defrosterin CJ like I said I was gonna do. :D :D :D

This is my first winter in NC and I am suprised at how tough it is to drive around here when only a few inches fell, No salt = Iced roads with a ditch only inches away. drivers who feel any speed which registers on the speedo is too fast. and a marked lack of guard rails all make for some exciting driving.

Rattlin', I made 3-4 trips into the mountains for snowboarding with my Ram on well-worn stock Michelins. Made it fine every time (see sig). I bought my 2wd party because we get very little snow in this part of Washington (it has been several years since we've had more than 4-5" on the ground, 1-2" is always big news and things really shut down).

Speaking of snow in the deep South, I just talked to someone yesterday who just flew back from the Anchorage AK area. She said there's no snow up there.

I think the weather must be suffering from dyslexia this winter ;)

And to think I've tuned up the snow blower twice so far this fall/winter. The only thing we've had here in southern Iowa is a simple dusting or two... . Last year at this time we had roughly 25 inches and 0 temps... I ain't complainin' tho.....

You've got that right, most of the lower elevations of Montana have no snow, high temp where I live is supposed to be in the 40s today. Global warming is great if you live in the north!

We are Finally going to get some snow here. Typical New England though, They're not sure how much. I've heard 3"-5" & 5" - 10". New England weatherman can be pretty vague (they're afraid to be wrong ;) )

Grrrrr

All we got down here was flood like down pours that ended in a tinkle of sleet... . it just reached freezing a minute ago  Real glad I even bother with snow removal any more  Shame on the weatherman hype routine, it sucks. Why not make it easyier on us..... between the months of Nov-Mar, announce when there is a chance of precip, and leave it up to us to prepare, it's arrant it is a guessing game. Good thing our tax dollars pay for all of their high tech equipment for low tech predictions :(
