horn and lights in reverse w/ door open

2007 3500 dually automatic QC LB.



When trying to back up to a trailer I cannot just hop in and bump the truck backwards because if i put it in reverse with the door open and seatbelt off the horn blares. Anyone know how to defeat this?



Really irritating when trying to quietly hook to a trailer quietly in my neighborhood early in the AM.

I believe in the threads about this I have read, you can simply buckle the seatbelt under you, and that will defeat it... ? Been a while... this was a "safety" flash in case the truck wasn't in park when the operator left the seat.

i dont believe it can be changed once burned into computer it cant be removed mine does same stupid thing!!!

I believe the horn only blares when you remove your foot from the brake pedal. Try double footing it and 'ride the brake'.

It does it when you do any driving with the door open. My 04 did not have this and the dealer did it as recall even though I told them not to. real annyoing when i was hooking up to my plow. From what they told me they couldn't undo it, but my 07 6. 7 doesn't have this annoying feature.

you can always put the brake light circuit on a toggle for these situations

It is only a bandaid for the 48re automatic transmission equipped trucks due to the design of the detent lever which has a flat spot between park and reverse.
