Would my 2007 Mega Cab canopy fit a new 6' 5" short bed truck?

New shocks and steering stabilizer question

Was awoken last night to my horn going off constantly. Not intermittent like the alarm. Had to get into the truck and hit the horn to make it stop. Happened again today in the parking lot at work.

Dodge doesn't have a clue without looking at it.

Anyone else experience this?

The wheel is not in the full up tilt position. I think it's about in the middle position. Weird thing is that I haven't adjusted the steering wheel for 6 months and prior to last night, haven't moved the rig in 3 days.

Finally someone elses truck does this to. Mine goes off very intermitantly (for no reason at all) and usually at work while I'm out on the road.

The switch in the horn pad is sticking. When it happens on the new Durango, (same switch) the FCM shuts off the horn, but keeps the CAN B bus alive, and that drains the battery in a couple of days if you don't drive it!

If your dealer is very large, they should have had new ones doing it on the lot.

sag2 could the switch in the horn pad be causing this problem?

Driving home tonight my horn honked for about 2-3 seconds, then about every two miles after the first time until I could pull over at a gas station and pulled the horn fuse out. Got home and put the fuse back in and the horn started honking again. I would hit the horn pad on the steering wheel and get some results but it would not stop honking. Tried the remote entry buttons and no results either. I was pi$$ed and embarrassed and the wife thought I was messing around with the slower drivers.

Thanks

I had the same thing happen in my '98. It was what they call the "clockspring" in the steering wheel. It's what allows the electrical connections in the steering wheel while rotating.

Big GM cars are famous for that. '75 Caprice wagon, '86 Sedan DeVille, '93 Fleetwood Brougham all did it and a couple of buicks, olds, and pontiacs that I can remember through the years. Maybe DC found a couple hundred thousand of them and started using them. :-laf Stranger things have happened in the auto industry.

My buddy's 05 did this and it was the horn pad as suggested above.

Thanks for the great replies to this post. I have an appointment at the dealer this afternoon. I'm printing this thread and taking it in with me. The dealer (on the phone at least) seemed to not have a clue why this was happening. I'll posts the results when they get it fixed.

My 2004. 5 has done the same thing. Was a very hot day and while driving it went off. Thought I was going nuts. Pulled the fuse to make it stop. Now it seems OK. Glad to know there is others having the same problem.

Anyone have a part # for the horn pad?

According to my 2003 parts manual, if the horn switch breaks you must replace the "air bag cover with switch and NOT the air bag module".

I can't give you the P/N's for your truck because I'm sure they changed in 2004. 5 (different style wheel).
