My low tone horn kept going out on me. I've checked the wire and don't see where it could be grounding. I ran out of spares and have gone with just the high side all winter. Is there a relay somewhere in the circuit?

Yes, but from my past experience, the relay supplies power (juice) to/for both the horns via (sorry, by way of) a single wire. If one works the other has power as well (too). The feed (not corn meal) wire splits off after the relay.

I know what's next.

The relay is located amonsgst (along with) the fuse panel. Little white plastic box. Do some investigating (looking into) the relay connections as it could be possible that the individual (two) horns obatain (git) their power (juice) from separate (2 different) treminals located at the relay. Sorry,I am not certain about the wireing schematis (don't know).

Phil,

Check to make sure the horn is grounded... remove the mounting bolt, clean, then re-bolt.

I relay hope it is that simple. (pun intended)

Are you two taking a correspondence course in comedy writing?? Your recent responses have been getting pretty good.

Thanks for the help. I should have checked the ground under that one.

NOW! What should I get for a replacement? Dixie... . Beethoven's 5th... . La Cucaracha... . the choices are endless. Any ideas?

for a replacement?

One of those big blasters that sound like a train. Or the model A that went aaahhhoooggaaaa. Or both. One for the around town driving and the other for interstate.

And with the air supply, you can air up flats on the side of the interstate. I think semi horns would be enough for me, though train horns would be awesome for some of the THUMP- THUMP- BOOM steroes around here; get it blowing in time with the rap cr@p. Friend of mine has a KW he's supposed to GIVE me the horns off of, along with possibly setting me up with an airtank. I'll keep y'all posted.

tugboatphil- have you tried switching wires from the low and high tone horns? Sorry I'm not more help, it's been a year since I've had the luxury of functioning horns.

Another vote for the train horn.

Right now I running a "triple horn" set from a 59 Caddy... it's pretty loud for an electric, but I need to step it up a notch...
