I've got an 97 2500/Cummins and I want to replace the wimpy replacement horns that I got a few years ago for some loud manly horns. And don't say train horn cause I've got a K5LA under the back. I just want to get their attention not scare the crap out of them LOL

Thanks,

Ron

I dont know if Dodge replaced the horns at any time on the 2nd gens, but I actually really like the sound of my trucks horn. If you want an attention getter then look for an airhorn setup you can activate with a dash mounted button.

I added cheap plastic Fiamm air horns years ago, and wired them through a relay to the stock horn wire. A very short beep uses the stock horns without giving the air pump time to spin up. Anything longer and the much louder air horns let you know they're there. Of course, seems I only use the horn during annual inspections. For some years, the air pump had rusted and stopped; but I finally dismantled it and clean and lubed it, and it's been OK since.

In a protected space, the Fiamm electric replacement horn will work well. Hmmm, I seem to recall installing one or a pair of these on my motorbike long ago. The horn was much more authoritative than the wimpy 'hmeep, hmeep' produced by the standard Suksuzi horn. Alas, the exhaust pipe melted it after a while.

I took the set of horns out of a Buick Roadmaster. They sound great! Almost like a ships horn. I agree, the stock horns were way too wimpy for such a great truck!
