Oo. Oo. Oo. called last week to check the status of my truck nothing. called this week... . you are not going to believe this!..... IT HAS BEEN BUILT AND IS HEADING FOR VERA CRUZOo. (16 days from ordering to being built?) The chrysler man with whom i spoke said he did not understand how i jumped ahead of everybody else he said there are people who have been waiting for months. Question why is it going from St. louis to Vera cruz(Mexico or Cali?) before it comes to new orleans? Oh well i dont care since my 99' just killed its last lift pump yesterday BOY AM I SICK OF THAT WORD LIFT PUMP:-laf Oh well. How long am i looking at now?

The silver bullet has been born!!!! i already have a pile at my house of aftermarket accessories.

CC,

I had a little problem with the folks at DC when I was checking the status of my truck. They get the abbreviations for St. Louis and Saltillo mixed up. They insisted the truck was coming from St. Louis and I said that it was coming from Saltillo, that the VIN started with a 3 (Mexico) and the 11th letter was G for Saltillo. They were wrong. Check your VIN, if it's coming from Vera Cruz it's made in Mexico.

Dean's correct. :)

My truck starts with a 3 and is from Mexico.

It also doesn't make any sense for it to be shipped form St Louis to Vera Cruz then to the big easy. ;)

Check your VIN.

to be honest i dont care where it is made as long as the engine is made in usa. but i am going to check to see where it was built... ... ... ...

sorry mr. mexico i promise i did not mean anything by it... dont hurt my truck:-laf

vin starts with 3 and 11th letter is g.

my main concern is how long do i have to wait? they said it maybe in kz status?

they said it was born on jan. 14th that is tuesday which means the guys where fresh but not tired. and not hung over hehehehe

CC,

You will love your truck, no matter where it is made. As I've said about a million times on this forum, my Mexican is just great. I looked under the hood the other day and saw a harness that said that it was made in Thailand. There is no such thing as "Made in USA" anymore. I suspect that some of the castings in the Cummins are imported. I think that our trucks are all "United Nations". I'll bet that very little of the electronics are made here in any of the trucks. I'm not saying that I like it, but that is the way it is and we pretty much have to live with the "global economy":) .

When I ordered my '03, I tried to specify where my truck was built. The dealer said I had no choice. I wanted mine built in St. Louis, Union built (sorry about my views, guys). I'd be tickeled pink to get an American assembled truck. My '01 was made in Mehico, that still kinda bothers me, but it's been a GOOD American designed (with some help of non-Americans) truck. My '01 Ram was my first foreign made car or truck.

Article in todays paper said Toyota signed deal for new plant in Tijuana, Mexico. New plant to employ 2,000 workers. Looks like cheaper labor markets will be the trend for new autos.

Mine is being built in Mexico. DC told me that all 3500s are built in Mexico. They also told me that the fit and finish of the vehicles built in Mexico was better than other plants.

It should take less than a week to get it to the Big Easy from Mexico. My Spanish speaking Ram is the FIRST DEFECT FREE vehicle I have owned ever:) :D Oo.

I feel the exact same way as you do dnitzel. My truck was made in Fenton.

The story goes..

back in '99 when I ordered mine, that for every Mexican working on the Ram there are three others waiting to take his/her place if she/he mess-up. The pay/bennies are so gud that they dont do it too often. This may or may not be the reason for it, but it sure fit mine - fit, finish, tightness were all there. The tailgate was even in the center (which is unusual). So if you believe the above, then the stories we had back then fit and it didnt matter when it was built. St Louies were not as gud in finish and fit (on the overall scale).

Take what you get and if I need another one - I'll hope it was built in the south.

SOTSU!! (maybe riding Drifty agn)

\\BF??

CC, glad to here your getting your truck soon. My 2000 3500QC 4X4 was made in St. Louis. Nice truck it was Black and the paint was real good. Good fit and finish, could not of asked for better. My 2002 was made in the plant DC closed outside Mexico city last Sept/Oct. My truck was made in June of 2002. Kind of had me concerned that it was put together with spare parts by people that were losing their jobs in a couple of months :( But I have been over this truck and not one flaw. I guess it is true what the Chairman of JD Powers and Assoc. says when his friends ask him what companies make the highest quality car/trucks. He was quoted stating that all of the cars and trucks made in the last few years are all top quality, very little difference between brands, with the only exception being don't buy a Korean car yet :)
