How much horse power can a stock vp44 sustain? Last Saturday I pulled in a truck pull and had a slight miss under full power. Last year I pulled with the Smarty stacked with my comp and had a bad miss. With Mach 3. 7 injectors and a comp box on setting #5 am I at the limit of the vp44? DWest

I think a stock VP44 is capable of about 650hp. If it was missing, your fuel delivery system may not be able to supply the VP44 with enough fuel.

Were you running timing with the Smarty? To much timing will cause a mis for sure. What was your fuel pressure?

Sounds like your not getting enough fuel to the VP. What kind of pump are you running, what kind of fuel pressure do you have at wot.

FASS pusher pump

I'm running the FASS pusher pump with a constant 15 lbs of pressure and I took the Smarty off because it makes my cruise control surge constantly. DWEst

I how little notion about why you have a miss, but this thread might give you something to consider. I never used an Edge, but still developed a miss at times. Typically cooler OAT, high power / boost.

If you still own a Smarty the new REVO version might be worth giving a try. A couple of other pullers are reporting good results with smooth power to 4000 rpm using a TST comp or Quad Adrenaline. Some are saying cruise is fixed, others say it is the same.

There is only one VP44 truck personally that I know of that makes 600-650Hp. Last I talked to the guy he was running Mach 6+'s, an Edge Comp and twins (s300/s400). His fuel supply system was solid.
