Kimber anyone?

A Must See Christmas Concert......

I am trying to find out what the smallest horse shoe I can buy. All I have been able to find in Wyoming is a 000. I am welding something up and wondered if I could find a shoe about 1/2 the size of a 000. Anyone know? Searching online only found a bunch of crap.

I would think the miniature crowd or some old cowboy (or cowgirl) on here might know more. Thanks in advance,

Jason

a good horseshoer should be able to make a shoe in any size you need as will any blacksmith. My buddy does horseshoeing and he makes his own shoes from time to time.

Thanks for the help. I am trying to build a gift and would need about 3-4 dozen as a start. If it was just a couple I think the blacksmith would be a great idea, however, this quantity may lend itself better to something easily (inexpensively) procured.

000 is the smallest you'll find. The suggestions to have them custom made by a farrier is the solution however I think you will not find it cost effective, but that is just my opinion, I could be wrong. In the quantities you are looking for, it may not be cost effective for the farrier to spend his time on. Time spent working on horses is much more valuable for them.

Pony shoes are pretty small.

A No. 2 pony shoe is equivalent to a 000 plain horseshoe.

A 0 pony shoe is only 3 1/8" at the widest point by 3 3/4" total length, give or take a bit, and they're usually only 1/4" thick or so.

Would that work or do you need even smaller?

Dl5treez - I think a 0 Pony shoe might work. Where do I find one?? Do they make a double ought pony shoe or is 0 it?

unrelated - for some reason my email notification regarding this thread stopped working? I just happend to be crusing around and noticed your posts.

THANKS for the help!!

Thanks for the help. As said above, 0 pony shoe is nominally 3. 125" x 3. 75" whereas a tripple ought horse shoe is 4. 125" x 4. 375". Unfortunaltey the pony shoe 0 is still too big for what I am trying to do. Contacted St. Croix Forgery and the 0 pony is their smallest shoe. I expect most places to be similiar. Also, I am finding that the minature crowd uses more of a boot than a shoe. Any other suggestions short of having them waterjetted from plate?

I ended up drawing my design in Autocad and then a local waterjet shop I work with did a little side project for me. I was unable to find anything smaller than a 0 pony...

I think the jet they used is too big cause the pseudo nail holes are very sloppy but still, turned out pretty cool. what do you think?

Looks good... . what are you using such a small pseudo-shoe for?

You aren't planning on putting antlers & shoes on your neighbor's dog for Xmas card pictures are ya? LOL
