Cool Calender

can anyone look at a vehicle for me located in the ft.lauderdale area?

Looking at buying a 98 TrailsWest 3 horse slant with a factory installed weekender package. Just wondering if anyone has any first hand knowledge of TrailsWest.

Also, if you have a 3 horse for sale with living quarters, (or weekend package), lets talk.

Thanks, RJR

I can dig up a guy's phone number here in Poplar Bluff; seems to know everyone in the area with a trailer for sale. What kind of price are you looking at? How big a LQ? I'm not too swift on trailers and living/dressing rooms- you put the horses in them, go down the road, hope it all stays together till you get there. WHat is a "Weekender Package?"

Not sure what part of Arky your in but Kenny Cutbirth in Ozark MO does conversions and always has 4 or 5 for sale. Very nicely done. Choice of pine or oak interiors and most have showers and such in them. His latest was a 3 horse slant with a beautiful interior including full shower and self contained water supply for 28,000. 00. 417-581-6575

If your ever up this way with your horses give a hollar and I'll take you down to the Bar K Wrangler camp in the National Forest. Also checkout Horsecity.com in their trailer classified section.

Largest horse trailer classified site I've ever found. Great search engine and as I recall, many trailers available in MO and surrounding areas.

I just sold our '02 Trailswest 4 horse GN. It was an excellent trailer. One of the best paint jobs I've ever seen. Held up very well. The diamond plate alum. was very well placed and we didnt' have a scratch on it. Plenty enough room for 4 large horses, we hauled our percheron draft in the back! The solid dividers were uh 'solid' and didn't rattle. All -in all it was an excellent trailer and I looked hard to find another TW to replace it. Reasons we sold it were that we sold our draft and found ourselves rarely ever hauling 4 horses at one time. We ended up with a Circle J 2 horse GN and am looking for a cheapo 3-4 horse stock trailer. Circle J's are nice too, it is our second.

One other thing. In my extensive searches for horse trailers, I have found there is a broad range of what people call "weekender package". Some consider carpet and a couple cabinets a weekender package. From there, I've seen them with carpet, insulation, heat, AC, refrig. , and even a few with cooktops. So you might ask when looking what their weekend package includes.

Good luck.

Thanks for the replies and sites.

Daniel, TPCDrafting gave a pretty good summary of a Weekend Package, it means different things to different folks. To me, it's the dressing room/front part of the trailer that's been converted to a camper with only the minimum of creature comforts, usually consisting of heat/ac, 2 burner stove, microwave, a few cabinets and perhaps a collapsible table. No bath room or shower.

Trails West is not a brand that's sold in Arkansas (I don't know of a dealer) but from what I've found on the web, it looks to be at or near the top of the steel trailer heap.

The one I'm dealing on is priced at 13. 5k, I think it's a little high, but it has everything we're looking for.

Thanks RJR

On the price, looking to stay under 15K.

Hi, I live about 5 miles from where they make Trails West trailers (they make them in Preston, ID). They are pretty much a great, solid, steel trailer. I had a 2-horse Trails West, and now a 3-horse and both have performed absolutely perfectly. A really good trait most Trails West Trailers have is that the horse compartment part is usually 18" longer than comparable trailers, because MOST of their dividers don't collapse. They need the extra space to fold the dividers back. I know most people can squeeze an extra horse in their trailer if they need to, but is most Trails West trailers it's a piece of cake!

VWell, we got in a few hours ago with or new 98 TW. It pulled great on the 700 mile trip from Florida to our place in Arkansas. It has had very little use, it looks new inside both the living quarters and the stall area.

I'll sort out the bugs in a few days and we'll see how it camps.

RJR

PS, Valarie, you'll have to tell us more about those 4 crashes and your new leather interior.

Hi! I've been busy this week, and haven't checked on. Hmmm, which story do you want first??? The four crashes (my student's favorites) or how I survived being the only woman in my local Tech college auto upholstery class???
