I recently had a failure (broken wire: too close to the housing for repair). Put in a replacement but was wondering what others' experience is with this clutch in comparison to a hydraullic fan clutch. '98 2500 12v.

Good luck on getting parts, wrecked my 98 QC and could not get replacement fan blade for it. Had to repair the old one. held up good so far!!!

Don't think that they make a hydraulic fan for our trucks. I have had 2 trucks with the Hortons in them and have one complete fan assembly as a standby. Only problem I had with mine is when it was first installed the installer didn't use the furnished harness and just put it on a switch in the cab. It ended burning up the electro magnet because when it swiched off a spike goes down the line and ends up burning out the magnet. The harness is designed to eliminate that spike. Other than that, not one problem.
