I'm looking to purchase a Horton Fan and have it installed. I would like some recommendations for this in Southern California. Would prefer the Los Angles area but will travel a little further. Thanks, I appreciate the help, Rick

don't know if it is sold yet but there was a horton fan in the classifieds for a good price.

any mechanic familiar with them should be able to do it

Rick, if you do locate a Horton fan clutch and you want it installed by a very competent installer, Jim Leonard in Southern CA. comes highly recommended by those that have previously used his services. Jim advertises (or used to) in the back of the TDR magazine.

RE: Horton fan

I installed this fan in my truck in 5/01. Not a difficult job. The mechanics are straghtforward and the electrics are not difficult. All parts are clearly marked and the instructions are good. The only difficulty I had was finding a wrench that fits the stock fan drive nut. I believe I used a large Crescent and a piece of pipe for leverage. Beyond that, no problem.

Since install, the only problem I had was severing the electrical line from the senders to the fan clutch. My problems was that I hadn't made sure that ALL the slack wa taken out of the wiring. Wires got sucked into the fan and sliced them cleanly. Take care.

Other than that, no problems were encountered.

Give it a try!

Good luck.

Stock fan clutch nut requires a 36mm wrench. Horton fan clutch nut requires a 2" wrench. NAPA Auto Parts stocks the wrenches/or can be ordered.
