I have one on my 94,you will have to figure out the wiring it will be slightly different than other year 24 valves. Be very careful with the wiring and bracket that goes to the fan clutch. This is the critical area.

I was interested in doing a horton for a 2002. Called a dealer and he told me the same, not made for 2002. would be VERY interested in adapting it to my 2002.

On the same line, I don't remember anyone taking out the thermostat during the summer time to improve cooling. wonder if it would help or hurt?

Something to get the fan to be more efficient in engagement (horton) or a more efficient aftermarket fan. Has to be a better way to get the heat out of this engine in the summertime. The best recommendation I have heard so far is to upgrade the transmission for less slippage.

Leave the t/stat in it is not a good idea to run with out. The Horton cools much better than the stock fan,it is a more aggressive fan and it spins at engine rpm... . no slip.

[SOAPBOX ON]Hey man - get real or get an attitude bypass. Tossing in throw-away negative comments is going to do you no favors whatsoever. You'll get out of the TDR precisely whatever you're prepared to put into the TDR. That's life. If you don't like it, ask Robin for a refund. [SOAPBOX OFF]

First off, have you yet bothered to check through the excellent search facility with the keyword Horton for starters? Just about everything you could possibly think of and probably a whole bunch more besides, has already been done to death many times over.

FYI - Short History lesson: The last year that Horton did one of their fan kits was for the 2000 model year. After that Dodge and Horton fell out amongst themselves and DC wouldn't share essential vehicle details with Horton, to enable them to make the neccessary modifications to their Fan kit.

I got my Horton fan to fit my own 2001 3500, but there were a few discrepancies between the Horton wiring loom and the Dodge wiring harness. The Factory Service Manual (US$110 approx) is absolutely essential to have, to understand where and what the various differences are, and then you'll be able to locate them pesky undocumented features.

If you speak nicely to Horton they might send you a . PDF file which describes the vehicle wiring loom interfaces in some detail and then you can make an informed decision by cross-referencing with the factory service manual before you buy one of their Fan kits, but from there on in, expect no further help from Horton, as your truck application is out of scope for them and it ain't their fault. Then when you are better informed, you'll be far better equipped to determine if you want to proceed with the install and you might just get more positive feedback from other TDR users.

Ummmmmmm... . totally incorrect information!!!!!! do NOT remove the thermostat from the Cummins because it *WILL* run too *H*O*T* without one!!!!

Yep,

Left the tstat in,

Stock fan system, runs a little hot at times, ie fan kicks in, does what it is suppose to do, kicks out, etc etc

Added a H7B transmission cooler w/fan BEFORE the water heat exchanger - helps some w/engine heat,

Still would like to get more heat out of the engine in the summer when towing,

Have had thoughts of water misting in front of radiator. 10 gallons of water would go a long way through a microjet low volume mister, sureflow pump, switch in cab.

Other ideas?

I have a Horton on my 2000 truck. You have to buy a new pig tail to wire in for power for Horton on 24 valve trucks. You can get it at Dodge dealer. Part number is 82205125. It is called a Kit, Adapter. Comes with new pig tail harness to wire into factory harness for power to Horton and instructions on how to wire it in.

It is a pain to wire it in have to locate wire behind fuse block and then soder it to wire. I hope you can still get it at dealer got mine last year. It came in a Horton box. The Horten part number is 986058.

Wire the fan in with your exhaust brake circuit. It does hold back a littlte better.

Don't forget to use diodes to isolate the exhaust brake switch and horton manual switch.

Horton Fans... .

Seems like Horton is backing away from the small truck crowd. :(

Received this email today when asking about getting one for my truck.

Hi John,

sorry, we no longer have an application for that engine.

We still supply the clutch, but don't have any more fan blades for them.

They used a special alloy that is no longer available.

If you have any questions, feel free to give me a call.

thanks!
