I replaced the vacuum hose from the vacuum pump to the "tee" in the line due to the original one puffing up like a sponge. No parts store seems to have the right hose so I went with a 3/8" fuel/vapor hose, the problem is the hose sucks flat! When I shut the truck off the hose is flat... no wonder the brakes are inconsistant, as soon as you pump the brakes a few times the hose is round again! Any ideas on where to get the right hose, they got stuff that looks like BIG windshield washer hose that bears no markings at all.

Statland, you should NEVER use just any type of hose for a vacuum application that is not specifically made for such. You found out first hand why that is so.

You should be able to find the vacuum hose you need at a quality auto parts store (I've always had good luck at NAPA).

the hose on my 94 had 11/32 vacu-brake printed on it,,found it at auto-zone

ICEMAN, I guess I'll go back to Auto Zone and chew some a$$ out... . those guys are so phucken lazy you gotta lead them by the hand to get anything done!

John, We have a brake expert on this site, who encounters this all the time... he suggested fuel line "in a pinch"... . well it pinched allright!

Statland---The proper hose size is 11/32. It is a little hard to get. Usually places that makeup hydralic lines should have what is needed. If a part number & brand is needed let me know. Sorry if I misled you that any hose would work. Sam

I found 11/32" vacuum hose for brake use at a little hole in the wall parts store, Now I would like to find the piece that is flaired to about 1/2" to fit the booster, it is original and not spongy from oil, but why not change both.

Mike you may want to check your entire vacuum system for oil, if the oil makes it to the climate control switch, brake booster or cruise servo it can melt them also. Seems like your vintage truck would have had the vacuum check valve recall where they replace all the vacuum hoses and install a check valve to prevent oil from getting in the lines, mine did.

Statland---I don't think you can get that flared piece except at the dealer. If you use a little silicone grease the 11/32 hose will push over the check valve. I tried it on my own trk a few days ago. You can also replace the valve. Some of the replacements are the correct size for the hose. All GM valves will fit and most Fords.

I know this is an old thread... However, I need to replace the original booster to vac pump vac hose on my 95. The hose is no longer available at the dealer. The problem is the vac pump connection and the brake booster connection are 1/2 while the T connection (for aux vac) is 11/32. The original hose is 11/32 with factory flared ends to fit the 1/2 connectors. I have tried the to fit 11/32 over the 1/2 connectors but the hose splits. I even tried heating the hose slightly to make is softer - no go.

Anyone have any suggestions on replacement of the hose? And to have the aux vac T? Thanks

Try aftermarket at auto parts stores.

Might have to get some barbed hose adapters and 2 different hose sizes if all else.

In the auto parts stores I can only find barbed connectors up to 3/8". That transition between 1/2" to 3/8" (or officially 11/32") is the problem. I guess I will need to invent something.
