I have an 07. 5, 6. 7, 6sp man. , 2500, edge insight monitor, with 84k. I pull a 6-7k trailer daily. The truck has worked great I love it. After the j-35 flash, my truck runs hot at warm up. I pull a hill getting to the freeway. At the bottom the temp is 175* and I pull it easy, but the temp now goes up to 224* before returning to 195-200* witch it did'nt do before the flash. Also can these engines handle higher egt's then the 5. 9's? while pulling the trailer during regen the egt's can get as high as 1446* for about 10-20sec. but still remain in the 1300's. The truck is stock except for a Banks ram-air and a 4" exaust after the dpf. My 01 never went over 1200* even on steep passes with combined 20k. Any insight would be great. thanks.
 
I have seen a few 1500*+ spikes for short periods when towing heavy, seems like 1100* to 1300 are the norms. The coolant temps I have experienced (Don't have and EDGE) are above 200* consistantly when on a slight pull empty, but seems to make little difference if there is 11K hanging off the back either.

me too. semms like it does not make any diff if the truck is loaded or not , egt runs in the 1000/1350 range. all seems to be well .
 
I assume that you guys have your pyrometer sending unit in the manifold and not the elbow? I was in the 1260 range on longer climbs in the mountains with a total weight of 22,460 +/-# combined weight. My sending unit is in the elbow.
 
You also have a dpf delete and an egr delete with a tuner. we all seem to right now being stuck with stock. more heat more heat. you will have much better flow with that no matter where the probe is.
 
DPF and EGR free, towing 14k+ from seattle to tampa, I never saw over 1300 degrees, hit 1250 a couple of times at WOT, but usually just driving it was 900 or so, empty it cruises a lot lower than that.
