So morning temps have been around 25 degrees lately-when 2014 Ram 3500 truck gets to normal operating temp and I have climate control on say 70 degrees, I get warm air out the vents but under the seat feels like an icebox-like the seat cooling feature is on but it's not on. Do I have something set incorrectly? Has anyone else had this problem?

If you have dual climate controls, make sure the passenger side isn't turned way down to cold setting and your side is cranked up to hot. There is a sync button on the 8.4 to keep them the same.

What? did your heated seats come on on startup?

Are you referring to the seat cushion itself being cold or do you mean the area between the seat and floorboard??

cushion itself is fine, at least under your butt-it's under the seat feels like a slight draft on the back of my legs-and under the seat and sides of the seat are cold. Very strange. It's like the seat cooling feature is partly on at the same time everything else is on heat mode.

Ok, how far are you driving the truck??

From living in a cold climate I can tell you that the cold air from the rear will come forward under the seat until the cab temp evens out. For example if you take a big truck with a sleeper out on a cold day you get the same effect until the bunk area warms up. Even my car and pick-up do the same thing on a cold morning.

Could that be what you are experiencing?

Yes, that is possible, the cabs are large on these. I am only driving a few miles-it gets up to operating temperature on that drive, but it takes a while. It's been colder than usual for us-lows at night in the 20's. Maybe that's all it is, but it sure seems cold underneath that seat. Maybe I am just sensitive in my old age. Never wanted to turn on the heater in the boat for fishing either, but last time out I wished I had propane.

Any one have the problem with the seat heater and steering wheel heat comming on when first starting? Not every time only after starting , I shut them off and drive a short distance restart and they come back on. The next day they don't come on ???

Not sure if youve had the opportunity to read this thread, but ive been dealing with these dang HVAC controls for 7-8 months now.... They are NOT consistent to say the least.

Mine come on below 40 degrees very reliably - as detected by the truck. I read somewhere the EVIC gets its outside temperature reading from a sensor in the driver's mirror (can anyone confirm this? I can't find a link that backs this up.). I know when I park my truck with the driver's door facing the rising sun, my temp sensor (in my BLACK MIRRORS??? ignorant design if this is true) picks up 10-15 degrees hotter than actual outside temps are according to the dash. Sometimes the truck will not high idle or turn on heated seats/steering wheel when it should legitimately turn on. As soon as I drive away and get some airflow over the mirrors you can watch the temp fall very quickly to what local weather reports say temp should be. I can park it, turn it off, and then restart it and all heating gadgets come on automagically as they should.

It is super reliable according to the reading in the truck. I think the sensor is being munged by the heat from the sunlight. Check your truck's temp reading and see if your experiences match.
