2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Hot or Cold, no choice in between?

I've had my '01 for a year now and have noticed a problem over the winter. I have no ability to control the temp. It is either all or nothing for hot or cold. I had a couple of vacuum lines replaced over the summer after seeing some scary fixes. This didn't fix a thing. Is this more likely a hose issue or a vacuum pump issue. Another thing, where can a find the vacuum tees and factory style hose other than the dealership---that was scary. Since I am new here I have one other question, what is a Smarty box, a programmer of sorts. It seems like everyone has one.

You can buy vacuum tees at Advance Auto or local parts stores. If they don't have the correct size..... get one of the cut to fit tees which has different notches on it & you just cut it until it fits. As far as the Smarty question..... check out www.smartypower.com & you will find all the info you want. It is a plug in tuner/programmer not a module/box. Bob Wagner is a member of TDR... . great guy to deal with & very helpful..... he sells the smarty.
