Final Four - GO UCONN!

Just got my May Hot Rod magazine and they are doing a "fastest car on pump gas" race. They chose 50 cars from readers that wrote in about their cars or trucks (a few Syclones) that wanted to race but had to run on pump gas. What I thought was odd is it looks like they are going to let guys run NOS! They showed 70+ cars that were in the 11's but didn't make the cut and not one of them were diesel. Did anybody submit their diesel as a "pump gas" streetable vehicle?

In another article they showed some of the new concept vehicles including the Ford Bronco. They think it's cool because it has nitrous injection but "too bad it has a 2. 0L Duratorq diesel". Can somebody please educate these guys on how powerful our trucks can be?

They spend thousands to make engine go fast. They like shiny fancey rides. They like twice loud exhaust.

Imagine the humiliation if we beat them with a six cylinder diesel. Spray soot on there shiny rides.

If you were in there shoes. Would you want the diesel crowd there?

HAIL YA. :D

They will be educated at Thunder in Muncie.

But I don't mind them keeping Diesel seperated, after all, we are a step above GASSERS!:D

Amen to that! Hot Rod totally turned me off when they ran an article about a guy who took a pristine 30,000 mile all original '55 Chevy Nomad and gleefully gutted, tubbed, channeled and chopped it into a total custom. The article relished about taking such a gorgeous and rare car and virtually destroying it to create the car the new owner wanted. I was so turned off I cancelled my sub that day. This was around 1989.

I saw one of those magazines on the rack at AutoZone a few years ago, with the headline- 500hp ON PUMP GAS! I was with my (now ex-) finacee, and we both busted out laughing, as the 600 barrier had been crossed with the CTD RAM. Few Ricer type guys looked at us and asked what we were laughing at. I could only point- I was beyond speech- and they just didnt get it.

I have read a few Hot Rod type magazines, and was really turned off by the cutom jobs, and the big hoopla about 300-400hp
