Attention ATS & DTT Owners

Best deal on a VP44

Good morning guys,

I need some info on the Hot-Rod VP-44, I need a new pump soon I get the 216 Code & no throtle response when it happens several times a day. So I am considering the Hot Rod version of the VP, Is it worth the extra money and will it preform well on a Tow Vehicle. I'm told that the pump is worth about 80 extra Horses.

Thanks, TJ

OK, I read the entire thread, 4. 5 pages of bickering, and it looks like it ended with Piers getting out of the Hot Rod VP44 business.

Not a whole lot of info on how the pump actually performs, other than 1 guy got 500hp on injectors alone, and the ETC'c do not respond as well .

The cost of a new OEM vp is $900 - $1500 (do your shopping)

The HRVP is $1600 - $2000 (no exact prices were covered).

Average cost of 1 HP is $10 - if the HRVP is good for 80HP (rumored HP) = $800.

$800 + replacement value of the VP = $1600 - $2300.

Sounds cost effective, but I for one would like to hear more on the performance levels.

Howdy Sticks,

Yea I feel the same about that thread, no info just a bunch of BS over another failed pump and no body to take responsibility for the junkmenship of the VP44.

I believe JRandol has a new HR pump and will check in soon.

in my way of thinking every one of these VP 44's are trash and will not even hold up on a stock truck.

This will be my 3rd in 160,000 miles, but my neighbor is on his 3rd in 84,000 miles on his 01 truck.

The service manager at the Dodge Garage here in town just told me they replace 2 to three VP's every week and can prove it on paper, along with lift pumps, yet no one excepts responsibility for their short Cummins. He said some times the LP's are bad right out of the box, go figure I've had 2 of them and had to wait over 3 months each time for Cummins to give me my money back. They wont just swap the pump no they send it out to be tested and then send you a check months later.

He has had to re-order VP Reman pumps for bone stock trucks in a local cattle hauling fleet that have failed in less than 1000 miles of pulling. These trucks are all still in warranty, but not for long.

How many Pumps do you think Chrysler eats every month.

all i know about the vp-44 is my truck is stock except for a kn and a 4in. exhust. now has 318000km. or 190000k. original pump.

I'm still on my first VP44 also with 149,000 miles. No wire tap and the fuel pressure has always been watched. I am interested in a hot rod pump when a good one comes out though.
