Snake Oil that seemed perform as advertised.....

Seafoam

Yeah its sold here in Alabama locally, but I have never tried it. I've tried some of the performance fuel additives. Not worth the cost for me since the prices rocketed up a few years back. The only thing I run in the winter is Howes Anti-Gel occasionally if it stays below 25, I need Anti-Gel when it hits the low 20's usually. The Power Service red bottle helps with poor fuel in cold weather. But, I can't justify daily fuel additives, they don't work money wise for me. I ran them for a while because of the low sulfur fuel change, but I've been running this crap fuel for years now and still have my original injector pump in my 95. The cost adds up quick running additives in warm weather, I got tired of spending the money of the special juices. The only thing I really noticed was a reduction in smoke, never saw a big mileage increase. Probably mostly placebo, but my truck seemed to get a little better fuel economy with cheap PS silver bottle back when it was $11 a gallon everywhere.

I use to see a little improvement running stanadyne performance formula I check every single tank use the same rule station every time and document everything but latley nothing helps mpg at all except running the chip on stage 3 . Get two mpg more on 3 versus other setting

I ran from NC to GA for a while on the exact same route and my NC fuel got me 1.5 mpg in two different trucks. But, I was always going south on NC fuel, so that may have been the reason too. :)

But, this one ounce per 25 gallon treatments seem odd to me. Can a single ounce of additive in 25 gallons really make much difference? I like the Amazon claims in the reviews where they say 2 mpg increase or my Powerstroke is fixed now. Probably better off adding a small cheap bottle of 2 stroke oil to a tank for lube, but even then, does it really help anything in the long run? If you spend $18 to $30 on this stuff for every 250 to 400 gallons depending on brand I would expect to at least get that much in improved economy, never happened for me. Most of this stuff is around $35 a gallon now, diesel is less than $2 per here.

I wish the additives really did give real improvements. Hot Shot EDT was cheap at one time, not anymore around here. They do claim its one ounce per 25, so a small 16 oz bottle at $28 is good for 400 gallons supposedly. If it works let us know!

I was working for a farm that had a John Deere 8410t tractor that wouldn't idle right so I dumped a gallon of 15 40 in the fuel tank the idle cleared right up. I'll swear on it it really did . So I believe in using something just nor sure what anymore I just run white bottle PS in winter silver bottle in summer

Hot shot secret is for engines that use high a pressure oil pump to fire the injectors. That's Ford, not Cummins. The Ford injectors get sticky from deposits left behind from the engine oil.

I had a friend recommend the Extreme formula after I bought another '06 last year with 150,000 miles on it. After a couple of weeks it was jumping all over the place at idle. I thought for sure I was looking at a full injector replacement. I purchase the bottle of the Hot Shot Extreme and put it in the tank. It still ran like crap until about a third of the way through the next tank (no additive). Everything smoothed out as if nothing had ever been wrong. I was blown away at the difference. I changed the fuel filter and didn't really notice anything unusual. I put another round in after about 6000 miles (they say NOT to put it in but every 5000 miles). It didn't seem to really do anything but the engine was still smooth at that point so I figured it couldn't hurt. Again, this stuff absolutely worked!

For CTD's up to 07, a good additive for your fuel & oil is Marval Mystery Oil. You can add it to oil and your fuel and it acts as a cleaner. I've always used it for my gas engines and in my 04.5. It helps to keep carbs/injectors clean. But the DPF is an issue using MMO, so I have not used it in my 07/14.

I've had Power Service 911 clean up a rough running truck. The cleaners can cure some ills for sure. Must be a demand, noticed Wal-Mart selling a new to me Sta-Bil diesel injector cleaner formula. Plus they carry the Lucas fuel injector cleaner for diesels too. So many choices. Hot Shot brand is at my local tractor supply, but it doesn't seem to sale fast, bottles are dusty. Good to hear it actually works.

Use enough of the Beach Sand cleaner known as MMO in your oil and you will wipe out your turbo bearings. It's absolutely a cleaner. It reduces the lube of diesel fuel when tested. Nothing you want near your turbocharged diesel. Unless you are cleaning out the tank and pouring the MMO out afterwards.

Ya, diesel fleets has been using it for years, and is a good lubrication for injector pumps, especially since the new ULSD. But not for DPF's

Somewhere on this website their is a Report from Research Laboratories Inc. regarding testing of diesel fuel additives or you can google "Research Laboratories Comparison of Winter Fuel Additives 10-2015" to find it.:)

True on the powerstokes, But would it help on cleaning the turbo? Being oil runs through it would you get oil coking on it?
