You don't need the stiction eliminator, those are for HEUI injectors.
I know, Every order over $35 you receives a free 32 OZ bottle of stiction eliminator ,was going to give it to my father in law, he has a newer dodge.Have you used the Diesel Extreme? Just wanted to know if it's worth buying.

Fuel additives are a scam for the most part. Need something to decrease the chance of gelling when it is cold, use it. Expect better mileage or any other benefit, scam. If you don't believe it check the fuel lanes at any truck stop and see if one trucker uses any additives. They go through more fuel in a week than you go through in a year. If additives were beneficial the trash cans next to the pumps would be overflowing with empty bottles.

Hey GAmes, is their any product that would help clean the fuel system?Since the truck sat for a long period of time, before I got it from my mom, I think the fuel system may still be contaminated or dirty, even after I have had it for a year. I've been hurt since last December, and have a 10 lb limit, so I can't do much. my wife drives it off and on,and some morning it starts fine and some morning in blows white smoke on start up. I've read when injectors get dirty ,they can cause white smoke on start up. Just trying to keep it running till I heal from back surgery to real look at it. Thanks Dave

How many tanks of fuel have you gone through? Pulling the filter for inspection would be a good indicator of what's in your tank, ie algae, dirt etc. If you pull the filter and it's nasty or you suspect water the only real solution is dropping the tank and cleaning it as well as blowing lines out and cleaning the filter housing.

FYI, your father in law does not have HEUI injectors either. Theu are hydraulically (oil) fired injectors. Cat and International are the only engine manufacturers I'm aware of that used them for a period of time. They were overly complex and expensive and haven't been used since the 6.0.

It seems to me that if dirty injectors caused white smoke on start up, and that was your problem, the engine would blow white smoke on every morning start up. There are some claims that XXX additive made a world of difference from a few members, so the only thing that could be hurt by trying some would be your wallet. I agree with JR, check your filter first. Also, be aware that now that it is getting colder that diesel engines all blow white smoke when it is cold until the engine warms up.

I know when it gets cold diesel react differently in cold weather. whats not making sense is it would do it in warm weather, not all the time, but more if it sat for a week. The truck did get fresh oil and filter on a regular schedule (life time oil and filters changes)even if it sat for a period of time when my mom had it.When I got it, I changed the fuel filter, and it did look odd.It was black and had a gray spots all over it.Once I heal, I'm replacing the return fuel line and pump fuel line (from LarryBS). I 'll just make sure to tell my wife to let the truck warm up before driving it. Thanks guys

That filter looks normal to me. Unless you have an exhaust brake there isn't any "warming up" benefit to letting the truck idle when it is cold. Once the oil pressure comes up driving it will warm it up better.

Up date, well I've been using the diesel extreme, and can say it has improved the idle, and throttle response .I have notice my Exhaust Temperature has been 150 to 200 lower than it has been. Before when I have push the truck it climb up to 1200 very quickly, now it slower to climb and gets to about 1000 now.
