The temperature guage on my 1997 12v would normally stay under 190 degrees for most trips and loads. But lately, when I drive home, which includes a moderate to steep incline of about 1 mile or so, the temperature can climb as high as 210 degrees. And as I parked the truck at home the other day, it was at 190 degrees, and then proceeded to climb to 210 degrees.

But when I drive to a store, say 10 miles away, the temp is normal and below 190 degrees.

Yes, we have been having hot weather in Virginia, but I have never seen the truck react that much to summer weather.

Transmission was rebuilt about 2 years ago. Have not done anything with the colling system. What might be causing the rise in termperature ? Thanks for any suggestions.

could be a dirty radiator-externally i just pulled mine and pressured washed it tons of dirt and crap came out, but it looked okay in the truck (i have used water and air to try to clean it while in the truck, can't really flush much out)

i was running warm and hot as well, now after its clean i am a little over 10 degrees cooler and it bearly is getting above 200 with it at 100* outside for very breif periods while accelerating ect.
