D/FW Dyno Day

I know this was mentioned earlier but I wanted to start a new thread on this one.

We will be meeting on March 16th at Cabinets and Counters located at 910 8th Ave N in Texas City. Cabinets and Counters is a business owned by fellow LSTDR member Joe Pazdera. he has offered his shop for our use to do the things that we do best. Break things, I mean fix things.

Directions are easy to follow, just take I-45 South to the Texas City Exit, just follow the overpass over I-45 and keep heading east until you get to 9th Street(it's a few miles until you get there). Take a right on 9th Street, go one block and take another right on 8th Ave. and you're there.

Lunch will be provided again this month so please vote in the above poll so we know how much food to buy. Looks like we will have Brisket and all the fixings to go along with it this time.

We will have a few tools available but please bring as many tools as you think you will need. We will also have the KDP jig available to use, just in case anyone needs to kill a KDP that weekend.

If the weather turns nasty, we should be able to handle 3 trucks at a time inside the shop.

If anyone has suggestions as to where we could have breakfast, please jump in here and let us know. I know there is a Cracker Barrel on I-4S in League City, but if there is something closer, please let us know.

Thanks,

Curtis

Hey All,

As mentioned above we are going to have some good ole fashioned BBQ.

I along with fellow members Gitch and MDW are building a BBQ pit that we can tow along to these bombing parties! :D :D

Anybody out there got experience building pits, PLEASE contact me I have a jillion questions. Been doing a lot of research on the web but hands on experience can't be beat!

We have the basic design started a simple pit with 48" horizontal section and a 20x18 firebox. A vertical smoker box is now also planned. I currently have purchased a sheet of 1/4" plate and a sheet of expanded metal for the cooking surface. We still need the following items;

an axle, 1000# or better

3" or 4" square tubing for the trailer tongue,

1 or 2" pipe or square tube for other structural components

More 1/4" plate

Small round stock for handles and such.

Does anyone out there have access to a sandblaster?

I will be working on the pit on evenings and weekends till we get it done. Our goal is to have it ready for the Bombing party on March 16th.

If anyone would like to help or donate materials please call 409-682-4754 or 409-945-7800. ANY help will be greatly appreciated!

See everyone soon,

Joe Pazdera

HOw about we meet at the Cracker Barrell at I-45S and FM 518. It's right off the interstate and on the way for most of the guys. I know it's a back-track for the guys that already live down there. But I hope it's not too inconvienent for you guys. If there is a place closer to Texas City, please let me know so we can try to get closer.

We can meet for breakfast at 8:00am and head south after we eat. We should be able to get down there before 10:00am.

Just don't let MDW take the lead, it'll take forever to get down there. That guy actually drives the speed limit. Drives me nuts. :D :D

How 'bout the Kelley's @ IH45 and FM 1765- closer & I've been impressed by them @ the last two meetings.

There is also a Kelly's across the freeway from the Cracker Barrell at FM518 and IH45 on FM518 just east of IH45. Oh and dont forget Bill they open up at the "Bu++ Crack of Dawn" also .

Any chance of a DFW guy joining in the fun and maybe getting some help with the install of some DD2s? I'm heading to Austin on Sunday anyway and Houston is on the way, right??:D

I'll be right around the corner in Alvin that week-end, so I'll just mosey on over. See y'all at breakfast:D

p. s. I HOPE it will be warmer than Vendor Day... :D ;)
