I put a Walker 5" resonnator on the truck today (along with my AFE filter, box, and torque tube) It almost completely cut out the drone. I haven't pulled with it yet, but it is extremely enjoyable now. I'll still dynomat the inside just to cut the noise down a little further. But the reduced drone and extreme turbo whine sure helps!

I paid $50 from the local International dealer.

Something else that also helps to quiet turbo whine is the Turbo Air Guide (TAG) which installs in the turbo inlet.

Good job TX, I remember your posts about the drone you were having to live with.



I put a bit of sound deadener in the door panels and back panel and it wasn't too hard to do. It helped a little. I think most of it comes through the floor.



I don't know if you've ever tried a TAG, but mine did cut turbo whine. The trucks I've heard with the torque tube have a lot of turbo whistle.

Right now, I love the whistle! But the drone had to go. Empty it is extremely reduced and loaded it's similar to when I was empty before. I figure I'll lead sheet the floor/back wall and doors.

If I had a TAG I would use it for a coaster to set my beer on, of course I got the bad attitude for the tag from the 2nd gen TAG design, do a search on all of the TAG raggin that happened when someone showed a pic of a tag that came loose to get chipped up by a spoolin turbo... ...

I think if you turned the muffler around, you wouldn't have needed the resonator, BUT, it would also eat up a lot of the turbo whistle... the way you had the muffler installed, it sounded basicly like straight pipe. remember, I had that muffler on my truck, and it was QUIET on my junk.



Glad you got a setup you like! some sound deadener will be the icing on the cake.
