The Greyhound bus incident. Illegal alien to blame

Root Cellar

I have this idea. My Grandpa tells me of the depression and how that alot of people went to work in the CC camps. From what he has told me it was a government ran group that went out and did general labor work to provide jobs and income, all the while making America a better place. It was set up like a camp, you traveled, had duties and responsibilities, lived in a barracks type environment. You were paid and educated all in the same. He is very proud of this work he did even today, often stopping and pointing out projects that him and his crew worked on. This is a man who has accomplished alot, yet the simple things he did "for his country" as a boy give him a great sense of pride still.

Right now the big deal is "close the borders!".

How about this. Everyone that enters this great country is put into a new work program. It last 1 year. You work doing jobs like painting government buildings, cleaning parking lots, planting trees, picking up parks, cleaning county ditches, cleaning waterways, beaches and ponds etc. Everyone works according to their abilities. The woman can do inside cleaning jobs, office help etc.

The 1 year you are involved in this, the INS monitors your progress. You are taught English classes in the evening and when work is slow. You are taught all the important historical moments and how they pertain to the United States. You learn about how the government works. Learn about the Presidents, learn the basics of operating a motor vehicle... you get the point.

Also during this 1 year period, you are paid minimum wage. All your money is put into a bank account for you through direct deposit and the account is monitored for the 1 year as well. You are taken through a background check once during start up, once at the 6 month point, and a final one before you graduate.

Once you graduate, you have money saved along with the financial skills and education needed to get by, and you are a better citizen than those who came before you.

End result is, America is kept clean and beautiful. Jobs are created. New immigrants are educated. The FBI gets the background checks they want. The new American citizen has a sense of ownership and pride now that never would have existed before. And, best of all you almost eliminate the illegal alien.

I think I will try to clean this up a little, and send a copy to my Congressman. You never know what might happen.

Chad, I like it. If you do send it to your congressman email me a copy and I'll send it to mine too.

Best idea I've herd yet.

Big D

Chad, I responded earlier to your response in the TDR membership post elsewhere.

Michael Savage, radio talk show jock, suggests gathering the illegal aliens and enlisting them in the armed forces without pay. If they serve honorably for two years give them a discharge, their citizenship, and their pay. It's a win -win. Similar concept I suppose.

I do know the illegal's situation is COMPLETELY out of hand in California, my ex-home state.

Cheers, Joe

Sounds Good to Me!

In Australia you have to have a Job Lined up before they well let you in the country for becoming a citizen,

Cuts down on the wellfare crud.

I have a friend from Canada that came here in 1960. He said that the US Government would'nt let him in to become a US Citizen unless he had a Job lined with a employer that would sponsor him.

What Happened over the years to change that I will never know. Maybe the "PC" crowd changed it?

Doug.

INS

I think New Zealand has the best system. You have to have a job, sponser, bank account with minumum balance of?. And NO criminal record, even speeding tickets I guess count.....

Closed Boarders

It sure seems as though there is a different standard for people from different places; I have a Canadian friend who cant come over to work, because he is skilled, highly-educated and is wanting to contribute and pay taxes! On the other hand (seems I saw this on another thread) the 'dot' people can come over, get a government grant to buy a Circle K and not pay any tax for 7 years... at which time they bring over more family and put the store in their name. . and no more taxes for another 7 years.

Chad, I like the idea of teaching the newcommers about the US and monitoring them... but who's gonna do it? why, the Mexicans of course! 99% of Americans think a job like that is beneath them. I like the closed boarders thing, too... . but the last time I drove from FL to CA across TX, the only non-Mexicans I saw from Houston to the Pacific beach were driving mint-green Broncos and had binoculars around thier necks... . boy, they sure are doing a good job! LOL I know, lets give the boarder patrol job to the Klan!!! They'd do the job with pride, and at no charge to the American tax payers! Sorry to rant guys, but there are waaaaay too many liberals in MY country for my liking.

A good friend if mine while in the Marines was doing the Armed forces thing for citizenship. He was born in Beruit Lebanon, had an electrical engineering degree from Oregon State. Was on waiting list for his citizenship testing and they told him if he enlisted with one of the branches of the armed forces and completed the gig honorably, then he could waive the test and get his citizenship. He was at Desert Storm, Haiti and a few other uprisings while he was in. Before his 4 years were up, he took the test and passed without any problems. He didnt want anything given to him, even though he had earned it. I helped him study for the test for about a month. It was very in depth. I know my history pretty good, but there were things on that test he had to explain that would make any of us scratch our heads trying to figure out the answers. He even had to do 2 and 3 page essay questions on things like the Monroe Doctrine, Civil War and slavery. I was impressed.

After seeing this guy go through all of that to be one of us, I have a hard time knowing there are people here now whos only task was to walk accross the border, take a boat or a plane ride and get to live amoung us.

Why dont we just enforce the laws we allready have. And even extend them a bit to those that want green cards... .

Those wanted to be a US citizen have to take an oath, those getting a green card should too... after all they get a ton of benefits...

I say if those coming into the country can't take this Oath ...

they should leave... ...

those the violate the oath should be deported.....

From the INS website:

--------------------

The oath of allegiance is:

"I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God. "

In some cases, INS allows the oath to be taken without the clauses:

". . . that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by law. . . "

---------------

To me there were reports of certain people celebrating the attack... that's in violation of the oath... . they should be arrested and sent "home".

Chad, thumbs up for your buddy.....

Champane Flight... if you read the INS laws... which I just got done reading out of interest... . they are very strict... but apperantly not upheld. My guess PC'ism has soften the enforcement.

my $. 02
