I bought my truck last Memorial day weekend. It was built the end of March. I have put about 1000 miles of the 4000 miles on it towing a 30 foot fifth wheel. So far the truck has been great except for one check engine light which resulted in a re flash per a TSB.

I wonder how owners of other 2006 models are doing. When the truck was built? Experience with warranty issues?

Also what mileage the trucks are getting. Solo or towing.

Thanks

Picked mine up first part of April. It's always loaded... 10000 lbs +. With 37000 miles in 8 months, the only problem has been the blender door vent recycle thingy

Built Sep 2005

Bought March 2006

63,000 Miles

Solo

In june had problem with A/C blower at 19,000- changed blower housing ; warranty covered.

In November repeat problem at 52,000 miles-not covered because of mileage called Chrysler Customer Care and complained they did not fix it when I was covered. I paid $180 and they paid the balance of $786 the blower housing p/n ($60)was upgraded but the its the labor that's a killer.

Do all my own maintenance ( Schedule B) except 30k transmission service.

No other problems to report.

Loading Smarty on Saturday.

25k Miles in 5 months

One problem so far:

-The Air Bag warning light came on and stayed on.

-Took it to the dealer. They read a code and concluded the passenger seat belt pre tensioner failed.

-It took about a week to get the parts, and they took about an hour to have me on my way.

Built in March 06

Bought in August 06

Warrany issues so far - Daytime running lights (Canada)

Mileage solo - best so far is 19 mpg highway

Mileage towing - 11 mpg at 22k GCVW (34' TT, 2 quads on deck)

My 06 was built in 8/05, I found and bought it 2/06, it had 22 miles on it. I'm at 16,500 miles so far with about 25% towing.

Warranty items:

Clutch master/slave assembly replaced

Steering box replaced

long crank TSB flashed (fixed it for a while, still does it accasionally)

Fuel tank roll over valve recall fixed

A/C blower motor issue just broke last week, has not been fixed yet :(

Strange interior light issue that fixed itself

Cruise control has cancled itself twice for no apparent reason

Mileage:

Empty with minimal idle time, 17-19mpg hand calculated both city & highway as long as I run 65mph or less and shift around 2,100 rpm. I saw 19 once on one tank, most the time its 17. 75 to 18. 25 always hand calced. Long idle times will drop numbers fast.

Towing 38' 5th wheel toy box, GCVW 23k+ at 65mph 90% highway, +/- 9mpg hand calculated

I love the G56, it's awesome for towing! The pleather seats are not nearly as comfy as my 04' SLT seat's. The A/C seemed to work better in my 04' too. The headlights on this truck are better and I love the electric rear window and sunroof.

I do all my own maintenance. I cannot believe the design for lubing the front drive shaft actually made it to the trucks, what a PITA. My 04' never had any problems with the front drive shaft nor did anyone I knew. I really hope a better design comes to the surface.

I'm satisfied overall.

Is there a place on the engine that specifies the build date? Where do you look to see when the engine was built? TIA.

By the valve cover on the side of the engine on drivers side.

in service 8/9/06.
3,000 miles.
No problems.
19 MPG combined 80/20 highway/city at 65 MPH.
only towed once for 70 miles with 20,000 combined weight, 10 MPG, haven't towed enough to be a very good representative of towing mileage.

My buddy has had his for 8 months. It is a 2500 4X4 SLT Quad cab. He hauls 12 to 15,000 lb generators with it. 75,000 trouble free miles on her without any problems. And his stock 48re auto transmission is doing just fine.

Mine was built in Sept. '05 and I bought it on Sept. 30th, '06. Truck runs great, had one problem @ 1820 miles when the CEL came on. It was the typical battery temp sensor code. I was also having an issue with the long cranking like others. Took it to the dealer and they re-flashed/cleared the code and it has run a lot better ever since. No more long cranks, idles @ 800rpm instead of 750rpm and seemed to get a little better mileage. I am getting about 17-19 on the freeway, empty and towing my 24' gooseneck flatbed, I was getting about 12-14. Flatbed was empty but I will get some loaded mileage numbers this Xmas holiday. :)

I am still kind of wondering if I need the fuel tank roll-over valve re-call cuz I have got under to inspect for one but have a hard time finding where it is with the tank being so close to the bed and all the heat sheilding. I need to find out if it is Ok before I come across a fuel contamination problem. :(

8400 miles only problems so far was recirculation door broke fixed under warranty, and roll-over valve recall... and driving it like i stole :-laf

bought Dec 05... built Sep05... ... . 20k miles..... only towed three loads and nothing over 6k lbs.

1- new washer arm which was rusting

2- warranty recall on fuel tank overturn vent; abs brake module; reflash for turbo longevity...

no other problems at all...

15. 9-16. 7mpg city

19. 5-21. 8mpg highway if keep under 2,000 rpms

took trip yesterday for 200 miles and averaged 22. 3 on flat terrain, no wind, 54 degrees, empty weight.

I ordered mine in late January and took delivery on April 7. I drove it home and it sat in my shop building for about ten days as a mechanic friend and I (mostly the mechanic friend) transferred all the towing equipment and accessories from the old truck and installed the new Jake Brake, gauges, Mag-HyTec covers, new hitch brackets, special towing lights, etc. I began the first tow, a trip to Peace River, AB, around the third week of April. When I got home two days ago the odometer indicated 96,000 miles. About 65-70% of that has been towing, occasionally triple axle fivers that put the gross combined weight over the factory GCWR limit of 23,000 lbs. The alternator was replaced under warranty at around 35k but to be honest, I think I caused the failure by accidentally leaving the ignition on overnight after leaving my motel room for a minute to go out and get the odometer reading to complete my log book for the day. I got 72k miles of service out of the OEM General tires. They would have been safe and legal to at least 80k but the winter months were coming and the risk was not worth the additional few miles. The engine has seemed noisier than I expected since the day I got it but I really hadn't paid attention to the noise and didn't know it was abnormal. A TDR friend and his wife recently made me aware that my engine is louder than it should be ---- probably one or more noisy injectors or the injection pump but I may just keep running it as is. It runs fine.

Overall I'm very pleased with the truck. I am satisfied with it the way it is equipped and would not change the equipment if I were going to reorder it today. Power, fuel economy, performance, and reliability are all satisfactory to excellent.

Better get that fixed pronto. DC has no problem voiding warranties for contaminated fuel.

Back on topic... ... . my 06 has an engine build date of 10/14/05, and Manuf. build date of 11/05. Bought 02/06

I have 10,500 miles of which 7000 have been towing.

Only problem has been a failed power steering pump at 750 miles.

MPG is getting better, 11mpg towing, long crank has all but gone.

100% satisfied ... ... ... ..... Jim

Bought mine 7/06, I get around 14. 5 mpg towing 7000 lb trailer, 20 mpg empty highway, 18 mpg combined city, highway. No problems yet, just had rollover valve CSN-F19 completed. I look forward to driving it every day! Oo.
