How are the 2008 4500 and 5500 holding up?

Im thinking about giving dodge one more chance. I have bought nothing but dodge since 1991 and up until my 2007 have never had any problems. I looked and test drove the new chevys and Ford f550 and was not impressed. They dont offer near as many options and features as dodge. Most of the fords are stripped down with no options.



Are the 2008s doing any better? Have they got the reg. bugs worked out yet? The dealer says yes, but they will tell you anything to make a sell.



What kind of fuel mileage are the automatic 4:44 ratio getting?? My 3500 4:10 was up to 15 mpg and this new 4:44 ratio scares me as far as fuel economy.



Any input would be greatly appreciated as 40,000 is alot for me to spend on another truck if its going to give me problems.

My employeer finally bought 5 5500s with rack bodies. They were against anything that didn't have the Ford logo on it . . . after so many problem with the 6. 0 Fords they bought the Dodges, and everybody is happer than 'ell . . . the guys love 'em

and we havent had any breakdowns since we got them. (for a change)

My 5500 Bullet is getting around 12. 5 mpg empty and between 10 - 10. 5 mpg with 19500 # trailer and machine behind it. (4x4 auto and 4. 44's)

08 5500 2WD Auto - now has 18K miles... we've had 3 problems... .

1 - 02 sensor - we think the dealer changed it for no reason
2 - crank position sensor - we had a problem
3 - rain in the cab from the clearance lights...

MPG - 10. 7 loaded at 19,500 lbs... never seen an empty mile...

Auto seems to be programed very well... this is our first Auto...

I got 60,000KMs on my 5500. Zero problems.

My 4500 now has over 20000 miles on it. Getting 15 MPG empty 10 MPG pulling 27500 GCWR and loving it's performance. I have installed an S&B cold air intake which made a little improvement. Mine has not been to the shop yet. It is the automatic with 444's. I finally have my alcoa aluminums ordered to make up for Dodge's 1939 style wheels that came on it.
