How are you mounting your accessories - tips, tricks & pics

I know I asked about mounting a Jordan brake controller in a new truck over in the towing group, but what about the other stuff?



How have you guys been mounting your Brake Controllers, CBs, Radar Detectors, GPSs, Gun Safes, Gauges etc? Pictures would be great too!



I had it all figured out in my 95, but now I need to transfer everything over and it is not an easy task. I need all the advise I can get.

Well, here are a few pics of various projects on my '03.

Ok, first when the UPS truck shows up and the wife wants to know what you have bought for the truck now you just explain about how its going to improve fuel milage and is money in the bank. After she rolls up her eyes and gives you the yea right thing drag the box over by your truck rip it open and pull out the directions. These should be thrown immedeatly into the garbage without looking at them. Then you look at the included nuts and bolts and what not and go over to your tool box and get the tools required to intstall the part, always include a big hammer and a cutting torch. Now install the part. If you get confused during the install go over to the garbage can get out the directions and read em. If that doesnt work then its time to call the vendor. Get the information you need and then while your there get all the information about the goodies that the vendor is currently testing. After talking for 45 minutes about general diesel subjects and 3 minutes about your actual question its time to let that vendor go back to work and finish installing your part. Its important that once the part is installed you go for a test drive. No matter what part you installed this should always include a burn out. Dont forget the post install process, those tools need to get cleaned up and put away so they are ready for when the next UPS truck shows up. Its also important to call all your buddies and brag a little bit. And. . thats about it, hope this helps.

I was thinking of mounting my GPS the same way. What is the picture of the fuel pressure regulator on the rail showing? Where did you get the mount for the CB antenna? Where is your CB mounted? I presume you had to remove your grab handle to put the pillar mount gauges in - did you have to cut anything? Or just remove the handle? I will probably wait for another kind of pod or make my own.

Check out my truck via readers rigs. Good pics of running boards, gauge location, etc. I too am on thin ice with my SO (thats "significant other"), not "standard output" engine, after spending over 2k on my rig in the first three months I have had it. The gauges, J&J runnings boards and line x bed liner did the major damage. Buy hey, who needs new carpeting and flooring anyway! Best of luck with your upgrades.
