I would like to add some insulating material to the hood and/or firewall to reduce some of the engine noise I am hearing ing the cab. Has anyone tried this and how has it worked? Any suggestions on how to proceed before I blunder forward on my on?

Thanks

Ken

You can get the factory under hood pad from Dodge. It isn't very expensive and it makes a noticable difference in the noise level.

Do a search on greatlakesdiesel. Gerg is a great guy and has done a LOT of work on this for all of us.

You can get some products at local hardware stores, and JCWhitney, and on the web.

He knows were the sound gets into the cab.

I just had my clutch changed, and drove it to the garage with the floor console completely removed, even the rubber shifter boot. So I was looking at the transmission. It nearly deafened me! I couldn't believe the god-awfull noises my engine was making and how much that console blocked sound. I think it can surely be improved on though. There is no floor matting or carpet padding anywhere around there, so I plan on adding a bunch to kill that noise path.

Been thinking of spraying the bottom of my hood with Speedliner. Since i'm a dealer it would,nt cost much. Have any of you guys tried this ?
