Ever since I installed these Auto Meter Gauges I've suspected the pyro. gauge shows about 100 degrees hotter than it really is.

My suspicions about this come from the Auto Meter Gauges (Same part #) that I had on my 06 2500. 90% of time I could get the pyro. temp down to 300 deg. , within five minutes or so of idling. With my 12 valve, no matter how long I let it idle, it never goes lower than 400 deg.

It's not the idle temp. I'm concerned about, it's the temp when I'm towing heavy in the mountains. It will jump right up to 1300-1350 deg. and I have to back off. If the temp is real temp. is 100 deg. cooler than that, I could feel a lot better about it.

I've R&R two additional new probes (Pre-turbo) and that didn't make any difference at all.

I called Auto Meter and they said I could send it back and they would check and repair if needed.

I'm just hoping maybe you guys might know a good/easy way to check this without having to box it up and send it back.

TIA, Ray

Ray,

I wonder if someone in your area has a tester as shown on Page 16???

Also found this test, but not as accurate as that meter would be. Real info about 5 posts down.

Do you have a hand held infared thermometer??

Mike.
