My Manufacture date on my truck is July of 05, but it is an 06. I just purchased it. ( Yes, a couple of my tires have tiny cracks from the sitting. How I can tell if I need to add the extra quart? Seems to me that it was only the early 05's that needed checking??? Is it OK for a brand new truck to sit for a while on the lot?? Everything SEEMS fine. . thanks! :D

On the passenger side of transmission is a ? 14mm Hex head. Just unscrew it and stick your finger in it to check it, or it may start pouring out, which is good. ATF + 4 is what it takes, I put fast coolers on mine but didn't bother to overfill it. Foamin could become an issue on overfilling? I don't know. I think some other ? NV5600 people say to overfill that one and it does a lot better. I would not overfill it till I researched it if I were you.

Thanks!! I think I'll just let it be for a while. I am sure that since it was an 06, they have probably got the correct amount of fluids in it, not like the first G56's that came out in 05 low on fluid.

It isn't a bad idea to check all of the fluid levels yourself anyhow. Sometimes incorrectly filled at the plant, and sometimes missed by the person that is doing the pre-delivery checks at the dealership.

I will surely ck it!! Quick question, it took me a long time to find the 17mm hex head for the transmission plugs on my 04. 5, but I can't seem to find the 14mm!! Not even at sears, craftsman, etc... not to sound dumb, but is a 14mm the same as half inch???

1/2 inch is closer to 13mm... .

13 millimeters = 0. 511811024 inch

14 millimeters = 0. 551181102 inch
