I just recieved this ECM that I bought on ebay and it doesn't have anything other than what are in the pictures. It seems to be a motorola sample model? Any ideas?

Thanks, John

You might try contacting Bob Wagner. He may have that info as well.

I understand what you intend to do with it, I just wondered if you have any idea of the origin.

I have one that needs to get dropped off myself!!

it will work fine as long as its a functional unit. I've seen other's come through with the motorola test labels attached.

We know for sure now that if you have an 01/02 manual transmission and you want cruise controlm, you need a 01/02 ecm.

don't delay

LOL LMAO, :D

Early morning, fire up the computer and what do I see???

Oops sorry. I hope you won't de-tune my setup for that!

Boy,a good lough in the morning is one of the best things that can happen!

You already made my day!

LOL

To come to the point, half the power twice the price for you! :-laf :-laf :-laf

Attention!

Had a goo laugh...

I've watched the pics a little closer.

The part # is from a late 98 / early 99. That ECM does not support the electronic CC of the 01 and up stick trucks.

Watching them pics closely, the ECM appears to be in a rather bad shape.

Two of the three screws seem to be missing. Maybe it's just the light but it looks to me like someone has attempted to open it. Not good.....

If you're still in time to get your money back... . :(

What would happen if I installed it in my truck "as is". Would it work for the time it takes to re-flash the origional one in my truck?

Or is that just a "real bad idea"?

Anyone tried that!

John

Depends...

What kinda SW is in it? Most likely one for an older than your truck. In other words the engine will not run correctly.

If anything, you could test the ECM in your truck to see if the ECM is operational.

Once in, the WTSL H A S to work correctly. The engine might run very rough the tach might quit working after a few seconds but that's about all that should happen. Everything else in the dash has to work, comprising the Oil pressure. At least you'll know if it works or if it's DOA.
