i was talking to a friend last night about my ABS/brake light on the dash. he said something about before going to a shop to have it hooked up to the diagnostics, i should unplug the ABS sensor, one at a time, from each wheel, and something to the effect of putting a paper clip or alligator clip to the contacts to "complete the circuit". does anyone have any other info on this? i don't understand how unplugging will cause the lights to go out. i would think the opposite would be true.

No shorting the sensor circuits will not help. There is a published resistance number that can be verified. I guess you could measure all the values for everything in the system if you don't value your time very highly. A scanner will take a couple seconds to point you in the right direction. If you have a non sensor issue you will be spinning your wheels
