I am sure glad these people are contributing to this forum. It also makes me wonder if this training is available to all dealerships and do they take advantage of it?

No, to be honest Dodge training classes don't teach this stuff. But they do get you starting to think about Diesel emissions and like most of the classes I have taken, where you go from there is up to you.

My 6. 7 run always with heavy soot . I change my dpf by my self and now run clear no more soot''''''''''''' finaly. dodge tech in P. R there change 5 turbos, injectors, egr cooler and valve,hp pump, sensors. 3 years with the problem and finaly gone (NO MORE SOOT) Dodge tech in P. R there junk. no sirven.

I get black on my fender and some minor soot after long heavy pulls. After reading this tread I took my truck my truck to my local dealer and expressed my concern about a cracked dpf. They politely told me I have no codes and 39000 miles so who is going to pay their tech for taking apart my exaust system. P. S they noticed my auxiliary fuel tank and noted on my invoice that a visual check of my fuel revealed I may have snoots in my fuel although enough to cause a drivability problem. They tried to charge me 100. oo dollars for this amazing service which I refused to pay. So I guess the only advice I need now is what do I do next.

My 09 has almost 60K and I have never had any message on overhead that you all describe. I have never had any codes. Do all the trucks overheads tell you when they are in regen?

No regen message (or any other indication) under normal conditions. Warning message if dpf gets full telling you that catalyst is xx% full. If you get this message, you should go for an extended drive until warning goes away.

Most of my driving is long trip towing heavy. This must be why i do not get these messages on overhead.

thanks

Isn't the DPF covered under the emissions warranty which is longer than 3 years/36k? When I went through my owners manual and all the associated pamphlets there was a description of the different warrantys and coverage.
