Anybody running a Big exhaust 4"?

how come

i was just wondering how come no company out in this big world cant come up with a electric fan other than horton im looking to find one some where but where dont now ? i have a 2002 2500 3/4 ton 4/4 and some extras thanks :{

Anyone changed the stock fan for a flex-lite still using the existing clutch system? If so was the cooling better? If so what model did you use and what year is your truck.

No more than a few would spend time or money to make a product that is of little or no value in this application the fan on my truck has not come on yet as the cooling is fine and no extra cooling was needer to keep the motor happy just the air flow most time is all that is needed . In your application you may need extra cooling . Is four hundred worth the extra colling ,thats up to you . LOL Ron in Louisville KY:-{} :D

Let's get this clear.

Horton is an electric clutch engine driven fan recommended for the Cummins engine by Cummins.

Flex-a-lite is an electric driven fan that is NOT recommended for Cummins applications.

From my pricing, you will pay as much or more for an electric fan system as for a Horton.

Let me see, who makes most of the fan clutch systems for the heavy duty diesels? Horton.

I read last year where Horton has sold one million of their fans to UPS alone, that's a heck of a testimonial from a company that strives for longevity and fuel economy in their vehicles.

If they ever come down about $600 I might consider one. For now I'll go the cheap route and remove my fan when I don't need it.

My horton worked great for about 120k. I made an error one day and I have a wiring problem now. I was gearing down my auto to help me decelerate from about 65(brakes tend to get hot because I drive too fast). I shifted into second expecting a 4-5 second delay because its electronic. Nope shifted immediately rpms spiked to about 4 grand. The fan wasnt designed to spin that fast so it flexed towards the radiator. It didnt reach the radiator but it ate its own power source which is up against the radiator. Ive installed a few stereos so I tried, to no availe, to use a butt splice successfully. Its really cool up here so Ive now ran fanless for about 4-5 months. No probs with getting hot. I have to find a fix that works before next summer. So I have a few more months to think about it.

Big Daddy,

With the truck off find the two wires that feed the electro-magnet and put one on the neg post of your batt. Touch the other to the pos. If you hear the mag click it's good. If not the electro-mag is bad. I've had to replace one before. Hope this helps.

Cyclone Fans

I think Cyclone (US Gear Vendors) builds a very nice fan as well. It's HALF the price of the Horton.

But for 2 years now I keep getting the run around from them. Last year they said they were close to getting it out for the Dodge. This year they told me they (again) were close to getting it out for the Dodge. Had a friend call and they told him NOPE no plans to go into production. So I called Larry (?) back and asked why he was tugging my chain. He said that they knew what was needed for the Dodge, but finally did admit that they were NOT tooling up for production.

Don't anyone hold their breath for a Cyclone fan.

But personally, I say shame on Horton for charging so much for theirs. I guess if we're (not me) willing to pay...

I buy from a Horton dist. I told them what I had and they said for that application my cost was around 1200. 00:--) He said you have to use a differnt fan blade also... ... .

I have got flex-a-lite fans. I got them off ebay for $150. They are 2 twelve inch fans. They work pretty good so far. I just leave them on all the time.
