I have a PDR cam with a bolt on gear on my truck and wanted to check the cam timing. Is there a good reliable way to check the cam timing without tearing the front cover off the engine?

Dial indicator on a push rod is the most accurate way to check. You will need a degree wheel on the crank or damper and set it correctly to get accurate readings.

Your cam should have specs for degrees on intake and exhaust valves for max lift at degrees, and, degrees at . 050 lift for installation purposes.

Not following here. What is cam timing? Cant you just find TDC with the pin into cam gear and that is that??

Am I missing something here?

If your cam is a tooth off your cam gear pin hole will not line up at top dead center. I need to know if its a tooth off. If your cam is off your injection pump timing will be of since it uses the cam as a reference
