How do I check to see if my lift pump is working without a gauge ? I am having the truck stumble or studder with a load on or WOT. Sometimes it only happens once in a while and other times it can be very noticable. I do sometimes get a small puff of blue smoke during a stumble, but that is rare. I am very new to the 24V Cummins so any help would be great. The truck is a 2001 3500 4X4 5 speed.

gages are paramount

but if you have no gages yet the easiest way to check is to bump the key but dont start it, this will give you a 28 second (I think) run on the pump, then while the pump is humming simply lift the low point drain lever up on your filter housing , if the pump is working per design you will get fuel on the floor :) and if it no workie than you will get :( , now this will not show you a pressure but it will determine at least a flow. Keep in mind that you may have inadequate pressure to supply the VP-44 for lubricity and cooling , A # 1 is get a gage so you can obtain the all important vitals of your baby... ... hope this helps, Kevin
