Question? How do I turn my Juice w/ Attitude off when I go to the dealer for service? Reason I ask is I had my Oil-changed this past weekend at my local 5-Star. Aside for the fact I had them rotate the tires/ wheels and change the oil and oil-filter. It took about 1 hour for this entire process. Well after they called my name to pay for the service, I jump up in the cab and my Edge-Attitude is on 5 x 5??? I purposely had turned the unit to 0 x 0 because I didn’t want the monkeys fooling with it anyway!!!! Just as I started to cool-off about it. I get about 1. 5 miles down the road, and get a wild hair to pull out my Invoice, my truck had 24366 miles on it when I brought it in for the oil-change. I’ve driven 1. 5 miles from the dealership, and my odometer reads 24370!!! Some lot @#%!%$# took my truck out for a hot-lap on 5 x 5!!! I wished the transmission exploded on his #@#$% and my truck had to be towed back to the dealer, and I could shoot him on the spot! Then make them buy me a new truck.

Really my ignorance for not knowing how to completely disable the Edge software momentarily, as to not entice the service department or mechanics to a joyride the truck. I feel like my truck was stolen or molested. I know it wasn’t hurt because the Cummins & 48Re are tough, but I will likely never go back to this dealer again.

The biggest thing that continues to tick me off, is there is, and I repeat there is no reason for a dealer to "Test-Drive" a vehicle for an oil-change. And if absolutely necessary, the owner should be advised before so. If the prick really wanted to test it out, if he were to ask, I would have gladly taken him around the block with me of course. But now I have lost all trust with this dealer and my vehicle. Sad because I have been thinking about buying a new Magnum SRT-8 from them as a second vehicle, I will be shopping elsewhere now.

May I suggest that you speak with the service manager about this, I work for a dealer and I know that this stuff can be really un-nerving as it happened to me once at a different dealer.

I'd talk to the service manager about it, and then I would talk to the sales manager saying that I was about to purchase a new vehicle from you but now you won't ever see me in this dealership again. I'd have been HOT if it was me. Whenever I leave my truck at the dealership I look at the mileage on the receipt and compare it to the odometer before I drive off.

This reminds me of the time I took my motorcycle in to have two new tires mounted for a track day. They thought they should take it for a test ride after they mounted the tires. They dumbed the bike in there parking lot and nearly $1000 worth of damage. Did I mention they called me a half hour before this to tell me it was done so when I arrive guess what I see happen. I thought I would kill that guy on the spot. Lucky for me the Wife was there to keep me out of trouble. .

Good question for Edge, it should have a Valet feature but I don't think it does. Once I started bombing my 03 I would grit my teeth anytime someone else would use the truck and is the reason I am gun shy on the 05 bombs.

Well you do either trust your service department or you don't, or for that matter anyone that works on your truck period. As far as I know there was no way to disable the Juice/Attitude or any of the boxes I have had so far other than removing.

Last time I took the truck to the dealer service department and ask them to check the front end because I had a ticking sound I just could not identify in the front left tire area. I left the TST on 4/2, EZ was on 1 and still had the BDDL Performance program loaded. Needless to say I am my own warranty station for engine and most of the drive train.

I did not see the tech leave on his test drive after he had checked the front suspension, but I heard him returning a good way off. I figure they cant run it any harder than I do and hopefully will use common sense. They did not find a problem and the tick went away and never came back. The tech had a big smile when he brought my truck out to me to explain what all he checked, no charge for the time. I have had a number of items checked for no charge while I wait. I always seem to get the truck into the service area ahead of everyone else and is always ready on time.

I was getting my Nitto's at the local Discount tire. As I pulled in I parked off to the side. I see a tech/kid/worker run up to a mini van, start it, drop it in gear, and RACE OFF as fast as a mini van can go. Around the building it he goes, just about takes a nice rally left and turn into the garage and slams on the breaks.

few moments later, bunch of kids/techs/workers start to jack the van up to, I assume change the tires.

I walked in, identified my self to the correct sales manager. I told him exactly what I just saw. I _FIRMLY_ stated that this _WILL NOT_, (and I repeated it), happen to my truck. Also, I repeated that you will not stall my truck either, and informed him that 1st is really a creaper, so take it slow.

(yes, I have seen people stall diesels, infact, I drove a ford 6. 0, with less then 3000 pound trailer, new truck, creaper didn't wanna slip in, and I ended up stalling it in 1st (or 2nd, the first non-creaper gear) but this a 6. 0, it has no torque).

Needless to say, the manager drove my truck, parked it, I watch the tire change process from a window, and I drove it out of the garage. I was very happy. :)

This is also exactly why I will never valet anything I own.

I would just put it on level 0 then unplug the monitor(where the 2 little green plugs meet). Then just tuck the plugs behind the battery and theyll never find it unless they really look for it. Dont forget to go back and raise hell :-{}

i dont know how to disable it, but they way i am sure the guy who drove it is simple... "If i get in trouble for this his waranty will be up anyway so i doubt he will say anything. "

what are you to do? when i have ANY work done on ANY ride i own, and it is seldome to be done by anyone but me, then i stand right there and WATCH everything that is going on.

i advise you do the same... or do your own oil changes and tire rotations.

Will the Juice still function if the attitude is unpluged?

Yes - I was told by one of their techs that it defaults to level 2.

As far as service I bring my truck in to diesel shops for engine or fuel system work and they are really good since they usually have their own hot-rod trucks, The "souped-up truck" novelty has worn out and they respect my belongings. Heck, the last time I took it in to Cummins to fix a high pressure fuel problem I told them about my last dyno and that they needed to get the rail pressure up for the leaks to show up! Other than engine and fuel I try to do my own maintenance via service manual and TDR forum help.

However, the last time I took it in to the local DC dealer I heard squealing tires. I jumped up and looked in the service window in time to see the butt-end of a rancher's truck that looked a bit modded rise up from some hard braking as the truck stormed into the service bay all while some techs were laughing. Freakin' buttheads!

Why would you let monkeys and lot @#%!%$# change your oil and rotate your tires anyway?

What difference does it make if they drive it? At least in my case they certainly couldn't drive it any harder than I could, and to be honest, I would be quite proud to know they were that impressed enough with my truck to want to take it for a spin. My vehicles have always been just a bunch of Iron to me. I've never had one yet that could not be replaced by days end if something went wrong.

I just thought about this for a second. I think edge was looking out for me. It's been pretty cold around here of late. I can set my Attitude anywhere I want to from 0- 5x5 and the unit will not work until the truck hit's normal operating temps. I noticed the other day going to work, I had set my Attitude on 5x5 and drove it so to speak a little harder than usual. The truck never really produced any power above what stock would be, as the operating temps were never reached. I think the unit comes with a built in "Cold engine protection" I work about 4 miles from the house, the dealer drove about 1. 5-2. 0 miles on my truck. The truck sat for about 30 minutes before they moved it in to change oil. Lets say unless they let it idle for awhile, in 1. 5-2. 0 miles, the edge would have never kicked in regardless of setting due to the "cold engine protection"

I've seen them abuse the heck out of other people's vehicles and there is absolutely no excuse for it. Abuse now can cause problems later. If I break down in the middle of nowhere pulling a big load because some monkey abused my truck I guarantee you I'm going to hunt him down.

The best one I've seen here is a local transmission shop that replaced the transmission in a Border Patrol cruiser. They "test" drive it afterwards. Well, the "test" driver decides to pull in behind good looking girls' cars and hit that little switch that turns on all the red and blue lights. They pull over, the transmission guy gets out with his transmission shop uniform on and asks for their ID and phone number. He got busted.

What an idiot. "Yes ma'am. I'm undercover in a marked cruiser. I'm not really a transmission shop guy. Just checking IDs. Can I please have your phone number?"
