thinking about installing the switch. reading about the 2nd to 3rd to 4th locked and how its a no no. what else should i be aware of and looking out for? maybe an overview on how some of you guys are driving them or a horor story that might deter me or make me think twice...

reliability is a big issue to me, im hoping the switch might help in this department if i use it correctly?

1) if i put it in 2nd and lock the TQ will it stay w/o shifting?

2) can i do the same with 3rd?

3) should i always manually place it in gear if i use the switch?

My best advice to you would be to forget about the thought of a Mystery switch, and go with something that is made to lock-up your TC right. My opinion of the Mystery switch is it's a cheap and much under thought-out example of southern engineering. There are several manufacturers on the market that make units that will control the lock-up of your transmission and also control the application of the exhaust brake, should you have one or plan to have one in the future. These units engage and dis-engage on there own, and do so automaticly. They are much safer to you and other on the road, and reduce the stress on your truck and it's transmission. If it is simply a question of cost, save till you can afford to controll the torque converter right and safely.
