How do I find a Hotshot Company?

OK, so, to keep this post relatively short, I need to find a hotshot company that can move my fifth wheel from Cincinnatti to Houston (about 1000 miles).



The king pin has a capture plate for my SuperGlide hitch, so the company would either need to remove it or have a similar hitch.



If anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate the help.

You need an RV transport company not a hotshot company.

Call Horizon Transport, Quality Transport, or any of the other RV transport companies whose names and websites pop up when you do a search under "RV transport. " Horizon is one of the companies I once hauled for and is a very professionally run company. I recommend them but most of the transport companies can do the job for you.

I don't have any idea what "a capture plate for (a) SuperGlide hitch" is but if it is anything other than a standard 2" diameter fifthwheel kingpin you're going to have a problem finding anyone who can move it. Transporters who are leased to one of the RV transport companies have standard fifthwheel hitches that allow them to hook up any standard fifthwheel trailer they are dispatched to move.

You might take a digital photo of your hitch and e-mail it to the company or companies you contact about transporting your trailer.

Thank you Mr Barlow. I'll do the search under "RV Transport". I work in the oilfield, hence the initial thought of a hotshot company.



The capture plate is what goes over my king pin to allow the automatic sliding of my Pullrite Superglide receiver. I need the auto slider as I pull my fifth wheel with a short bed truck. It's held in place with about a dozen bolts that have not moved for about 4 years. I don't think removing them is going to be an easy proposition!

You're more trusting than I am. UShip may work fine but I believe the drivers are independent guys with no requirement to have insurance or bonds. If one of UShip's drivers fails to deliver the trailer or severely damages it enroute where does the owner look for liability?

I dont know of the requirements of the average Uship guy. / My hauler provided proof of insurance. This is the only way I would let my new $70000 trailer be towed. .

What insurance did he have?

If the driver had the mandatory commercial liability and typical collision-comprehensive coverage on his own truck it would provide no protection to the trailer owner.

Cargo insurance would be the important coverage to insist on in an amount adequate to cover your trailer. But even cargo insurance provides no performance bond or guarantee that the driver will deliver a trailer as promised.

Having been inside the RV transportation industry I would not trust my trailer to a private individual hauler I didn't know and check out very carefully.

I have not employed them but I would expect many UShip dirvers are simply outlaw haulers with no DOT registration, no commercial liability, no cargo insurance, and no bond.

Thanks Harvey, I have all of that stuff. I even have a 33ft 5er of my own I get to pull on occassion. There are a lot of crooks out there. The main thin I believe is beware of someone that wants a lot of money up front.
